The towers will NOT be removed, but the City is spending over a Million DOollars to upgrade the Electric service to the new section of the park (and Disney will re-pay the city for its costs). |

I suppose they could always bury them and still leave the poles up, but that doesn't make much sense. What would they be digging in Simba for, if it was related to the powerlines, but not actually burying them? Are they adding a switching station there, and running some smaller lines over to DCA? |

There are no plans to place the current lines underground, but the NEW power lines will be placed underground. |

It's incredibly expensive for the type of lines that exist. I'd guess much less so for the new ones. |

| FerretAfros Thu 4/3/2008 12:01p | The old lines will always need to be there. The city has just sort of grown around, and it would be really tough to move them to a different location. However, burying them in the same place where they currently lie wouldn't be that difficult, but it's extremely difficult to do, due to regulations on how deep they must be, and what can be placed on the ground above them. It could be done, but it would be extremely difficult and not really worth it.
With the new power lines, it's simply because the stuff that they have there now will need a lot more power than they're getting right now. You can't just plug Carsland or half of a hotel into a standard outlet and expect it to run properly, so they are just bumping it up to serve their incoming additions (and probably leaving enough wiggle room for more additions down the road too). |

| jmuboy Thu 4/3/2008 12:20p | I agree that while they are digging stuff up I'd rather see ALL the lines go underground. I'd almost give up an e-ticket ride budget to see these lines buried for the long run! |
