This is certainly a switch from the much more common chicks with d...

Well, you know.

Hey, let's think of the possibilities. Both mom and "mom" can breast feed meaning one mom doesn't get stuck with all the late night feedings.

I was on a plane yesterday and missed out on this topic when it started here. I completely agree with Mele's post #2 because this situation definitely does not do the transgendered community justice. If he truly feels that he is a man, then there should be no longing to carry children. A lot of the time there is a lot of loathing, disgust or embarassment with one's body parts associated with being transgendered. Obviously I am in no position to judge this person, but one thing is certain. The person who is pregnant was born a woman and there is no reason to sensationalize it. He now takes no drugs to supress female hormones, etc. I hope they find happiness and peace with the new baby, but be truthful in the process.

>>Nancy, the mother of two grown daughters from a previous marriage, says the effects of endometriosis left her unable to have more children. "[Doctors] removed my womb," she says.<<

So the man with a uterus is married to a woman with no uterus. That much is clear, anyway.

Well one thing is for sure, there's no need to go on the Maury Povich show.

DAR:
>>I don't know what to say.<<

I do.

That is not a man. That is a woman who had her breasts surgically mutilated, took male hormones, and now pretends to be a man. She and her female partner use donated sperm in an attempt to intentionally bring a child into a situation where there is one woman who is screwed up enough to have herself mutilated for no good reason, and another woman who is attracted to such a woman. Lovely. The emperor has no Y chromosome.

mele:
>>The more I watched them on tv, the less "odd" it seemed. We need to see people who are different from ourselves.<<

Yeah, that's fine when we're talking about people who seem odd to us because they live in a different part of the world and dress and eat differently than we do. But it is not a good thing when it comes to people who do things that are destructive or harmful to a child.

BlueDevilSF:
>>And thankfully your opinion on this doesn't really mean squat.<<

There are people who chose to go public with what they are doing. So everyone is free to comment on it, and you are free to disagree with those comments.

DAR:
>>Maybe Oprah wanted to see if she could get Steadman pregnant.<<

She hasn't married that guy, right? Something tells me that she would if he made more money than she did. Even a woman as rich as Oprah wants a man who earns more than her, apparently. Based on that, I doubt she'd like to risk paying child support to Steadman. She apparently doesn't want to risk paying alimony to him.

By the way. Donating sperm is a bad idea. Very bad. If you have any, don't do it. Unless you are perfectly fine with the idea of 1) you or one of your offspring "falling in love" with a long-lost close relative twenty years down the line (yes, this has happened), and 2) being on the hook for child support. Yes, sperm donors have been hit up for child support, and the courts have sided with "the best interest of the child" and have granted it.

Just cos you listen to that voice, we shouldn't have to. Geesh.

All I can say is that I disagree with RC Collins and let it go.

I've typed up a whole thing, but I fear it won't do any good.

Perhaps they should read up on transgendered people?

I am not sure why all the fuss - Why Oprah or even the couple for that matter, felt the need to make this a big public event. If she wanted to live as a man that is fine - but if she truely wanted to be a man completely - why did she keep the girl plumbing?
This seems much more Maury than an Oprah topic.
