2/3, I do believe Tim Burton had his tongue firmly planted on his cheek with that remark... :)

Guys: is the movie too scary and bloody? I've known the soundtrack for years, but have never seen it and I've got mixed emotions.

And as for Alan Rickman.....ah...gotta love that man! And Johnny too, of course. :)

And finally: I have never, ever "gotten" Cats. Sorry to you fans. I don't even like "Memory". I do love Phantom, though; was lucky enough to see it in London. As a genre, I love musicals, but Cats and Hair and JC Superstar leave me absolutely cold. Just me.

My friends and I saw a few years ago. There really is no story, but the music and songs are great.

For our performance, Old Deuteronomy stayed on the stage during the entire intermission and watched the audience. I overheard a mother telling her child how it was watching us (like a real cat).

I should have brought some yarn with me that day and see if the 'cats' would have interacted with it. When intermission was over, two cats came out and started pawing at one gentleman who was going back to his seat. :)

The Villain of the piece is Maccavity, who kidnaps Deuteronomy, but doesn't have much stage time...

Ah, CATS....

Now and Forever....

Saw CATS in Los Angeles in 1984. Had big expectations -- was terribly disappointed. Thought it was going to have more of a story.

When I moved to New York, saw CATS twice on Broadway at the Winter Garden in 1986. [Took visiting friends to see it], didn't like it again.

Saw CATS at a dinner theater in Fresno last year. Didn't really like it there either.

But, my 11 year old daughter watched the movie about 3 dozen times, and listened to the soundtrack ad nauseum -- so as many LPers like to write here 'My kid liked it.'

I've always felt that after the opening 'Jellicle Cats' number -- which is really fun and full of life -- the show just slowly grinds to a halt. It's boring.

I'm weird about musicals thought.

I don't really care for 'Les Miserable' 'Miss Saigon' or 'Phantom of the Opera' either.

"I don't really care for 'Les Miserable' 'Miss Saigon' or 'Phantom of the Opera' either."

That just means you have taste.

Miss Saigon is one that I never could figure out what the big deal was about...I was bored to tears sitting watching it...Redhead maybe you can answer this ongoing question I have had for years regarding it....Several years before Miss S. showed up Malcom McClaren did a sort of disco take on Madame Butterfly...I love it...If you have never heard it you should...Some time after that recording was released I read a story that there was going to be an effort to turn it into a Broadway show...A few more years passed and here came Miss S....I always felt that there probably was serious talk about the McClaren version and somehow it morphed into what finally became Miss Saigon as we know it...I have nothing to base that on other than how I feel...The album/cd that McClaren did was titled Fans...The whole thing was a take off on different arias...It is still most interesting to listen to today...

As a side note.. I have never seen Les Miz knowing I would hate it...BUT I wish you could hear a friend of mine's reveiw...She can sum up the entire show in under thirty seconds...It really is funny...
