They even payed tribute to that in "National Lampoon's Vacation" when the Grizwolds arrive at "Wally World" and run to the strains of the "Chariots of Fire" theme. You know what's funny? The "Lightning McQueen" and "Mater" in Condor Flats: if you were to add the character of "Fillmore" to that spot, it would place him in about the same location as that vintage VW van in the picture. Well, with the addition of "CarsLand", there may once again be a VW van in what used to be the parking lot. |

We would get there early enough to be able to park the car within close walking distance to the gates and then use the car to store stuff instead of lockers. The pic also reminds me of the days when they gave away cars for the 35th anniversary of the park and the cars were all parked under a tent in the parking lot. It also reminds me of the Gift Giver Extraordinaire at the turnstiles for the 30th anniversary. |

Of course then there were only about 60-65,000. of us, so Disney could afford to treat us to close parking. |

We would leave the San Fernando Valley early enough to arrive and park near the entrance. Since they drove a truck with a camper on the back, we would come back to the parking lot to have lunch rather then buying it in the park. Those are great memories! I miss the parking lots.
On a side note, last year my uncle and I were going through the old camper and guess what we found in one of the small cupboards? Two unused ticket books (does anyone remember the ticket books?) that must have been bought and put away, but forgotten. |

| Sara Tonin Fri 4/4/2008 3:02p | I remember the old trams (yellow and blue) and being sleepy while whating for the tram to return us to our car and then of course being immediately revived by the cold air while our tram was whizzing through the lot. |
