Alright, alright. I promised a recap, and here it is.

Someone brought it up, and I realized that I have made over one hundred trips to Disneyland. And I've never lived in Southern California. Almost every trip has involved a hotel room, so it's never cheap for me. I know there are a lot of people on LP for whom a hundred trips would be miniscule, but when it takes more than a couple of hours drive and the cost of a ROOM, it is an accomplishment. Also note that that is trips to DL they were always multiple days, so I can say I've visited Disneyland more than five hundred times in my life. I'm not bringing this up to brag, but I'm bringing it up to put the following into context: This was one of the best trips to Disneyland in my life. Certainly in my top ten, whatever that is.

You already know that it was a small disaster getting to the Park, and my first ‘live' post was from HoJo's pool where I was trying to decompress. In that post I said "BTW, I'm topless. I learned over the next couple of days that most of my LP buddies don't waste their time in World Events, so my quip was mostly unappreciated, or worse, Schmitty was just being weird again. Oh well.

It's strange trying to do a ‘Live Trip Report", but I'd encourage anyone to try and do it. It's surprisingly difficult. It's not too bad when you're solo (except for the part about having to run back and forth from your hotel room to make the posts) but when you are with friends, it's very hard to find time to post and not feel like you are insulting your company.

One of my favorite posts was not on my ‘Live Trip Report". It was on "Trip Countdowns" when I posted "10 Seconds!!!".

The first day was great. I'm glad I'm not the only one who plays "Who's the hottest babe in the queue". I repeat, those couldn't be real, but they were amazing. It was funny to see the dog house labeled ‘Indiana'. I wouldn't have seen it if the train hadn't stopped close to it's location. Every time I rode the railroad later, we went by too fast to see it.

Next comes a hard part for me. Thirty two years ago I worked on an engineering project that was being done in metric units and used American (imperial) parts. After thirty two years, I still remember that a cubic meter holds 264 gallons. Big whoop. If I'm introduced to you, I'm lucky if I remember your name for longer than one minute. I just can't do that. It's personally embarrassing, but I try to do a lot to get around it, and that usually consists of making an @ss of myself while I try to fake around it. But I have so many people to thank for making this one of my best trips ever. In no particular order, chikapin and her friend, whatsername, Tink's best friend, Alexbook, xPirate Princessx, 999 Haunts, Whosits and her Aunt Whatchacallit, LuLu, Dr. Fruitloop, Lady Starlight and Robbin. I'll regret that I attempted to post names, because I know I left many out, and I'm sorry. Consider me handicapped. WHOOPS! Let me thank Shiva, because, even though he wasn't there, he made my trip almost perfect!

This is getting too long, so I'll try to wrap it.

What was the best thing on this trip? It was the total absence of Pirates of the Caribbean merchandise in the Indiana Jones store in Adventureland. Sounds silly, right? But that filled me with a lot of hope that maybe someone somewhere has a clue.

O.K. I need to abbreviate this even more:

Don't blow out the candle on your birthday beignet if its covered with powdered sugar.

It's tough to post on an iPhone. My post 54 was supposed to be a long, slow sink into drunkenness, but it was to short, so I'm a little scared that some of you might have taken it literally. I will take a portable charger with me next visit.

I love Auntie Toni.

ZZ Top got it right.

Ursula Tocks!

Last thought. I wanted to say so much more, but I got to lay this to rest. I came down for the friends, and the friends made the trip as close to perfection as you could imagine. I spent Monday solo at DCA. I've never had so much fun at DCA as I did on this trip. Forgive me, but I think it is a great park. I think the Maliboomer is the ugliest structure in the DLR, but man, is it fun. I'll always remember taking my then 18 year old daughter on it, and when we hit the top, she looked at me and said "I'm going to kill you!" Of course, when we got down, we went right back on a couple of more times. I posted years ago, "I like DCA, I just wanted to love it." Well, I'm darn close to loving it. If I haden't been an idiot and missed the zoetrope, I'd probably be lovin' it right now.

Thanks to everyone I met on this visit. You're the ones who made it so great!

I might revisit this recap again, but don't count on it.

See you at the Cove Bar on 7/18!!

Schmitty, you're one in a million! I think I hung on this live trip reports as I have few others. I know it was a lot of work as well as not being easy to do but you gave a wonderful gift to those of us who couldn't be in the park with you. I will definitely see you at the Cove Bar on 7/18 but I hope to see you a little sooner than that.

You *did* get a picture of the girl in the Pirate's queue, didn't you? That's OK Buddy, I love ya anyway!

I want to see the girl in the queue too! Thanks for sharing.

I agree Schmitty, I think the friends help make it. We got home 6 weeks ago, and it seems like forever. We are so missing everyone, for it was our LP friends that truly made the trip for us. It was one of my best trips ever - taking the kids into their first forray into DL (they had been to WDW and DLP a few times), but that was so cool. But all of our wonderful LP friends, oh my gosh, that put the trip over the top for us!!!! I only hope SGV, we can share some time at DL together next time.

Thanks for sharing.

And yes, we liked DCA before when it opened, but we love it even more now!

Fun report and I'm glad you had such a good time.

I was a little hesitant about showing up with a non-LP'er at a meet--wasn't sure if she would feel out of place or fall into the ax-murderer camp. Thanks to you all for making her feel welcome. She thought you were great and we both had so much fun laughing with you. Love to do it again some time!

That was a lovely, lovely re-cap. You must be quite the wonderful man. Any guy who goes to DL that much has GOT to have some serious pixie dust in his veins, so you are automatically good people.
