Maybe it's getting old Jim. It is cool, but I would prefer one that did not rely on humans.

Then again, I enjoy the Jungle Cruise and Crush

No, I get that the imgineers are sometimes impressed with what they CAN do, and not what they SHOULD do. Ex:Ev is a perfect example where they built this monsterously expenive AA that required a seperate superstructure that you see for 1/10th of a second. Now its broken a lot of the time anyway. I personally think that between the 6 week Nepalise research mission and the bazillion $$$ AA you can't see, the imagineers spent a ton of money that really doesn't seem necessary.

The fact that he's scaring some people is a testament to how cool this thing is.

<<Jim in Merced CA: I've watched the videos -- some of them several times -- and I have to say that I'm a bit underwhelmed.

Not sure why.

I know Don Rickles did the voice, and they worked hard on perfecting the eyes and mouth. And the hand pulls the ear off an all...

Maybe I'm just getting too old and jaded for this stuff.

Anyone else feel this way?>>

While the technology of the animatronics is very impressive, the overall impression feels limited. It's apparent from the various videos that the interaction variations are limited.

But, I think the biggest tell here is that it didn't appear to draw much of a crowd, and when it did get some, it didn't appear to hold their attention for very long.

^^^I noticed that too.

So, if they don't realize it's interactive, and that Potato Head is saying specific stuff, how does that impact the guest experience...

anyway, nitpicky, but...

Are you saying that the attraction would be just as well without Mr Potato? Seems to me that he's one of those "Disney details" that everyone complained was missing from DCA. No?

That's the problem, when Disney does do something special for DCA like add a Mr. Potato head to the park, they get slammed.

Then when they don't do something special, they get slammed for doing the same ol thing and being un Disney.

Damned if they do, damned if they don't.....
