Topic: Pirates-Is it Will Turner or Bill Turner?

1	PirateGirl121 Sun 4/6/2008 12:37p	Ok weird question and I know the movie has been out for a long time but this is really bugging me. Is Wills dad Bill Turner or Will Turner? In the movie they call him Will but hes Bootstrap Bill and here http://www.imdb.com/title/tt04 49088/ it says its Bill. Now if someone knows the answer will you please tell me. Yes if you have checked some of my other posts I am kinda Pirates obsessed. But in a good way. Not a weird way :)
2	mele Sun 4/6/2008 12:53p	Hm, I don't know about the actual script, but people named William are often called Bill. It's like calling people Robert, Bob, or John, Jack. Don't know why. LOL
3	jasmine7 Sun 4/6/2008 3:59p	His dad is also named William, but they call him Bootstrap Bill. Jack confirms this in the first movie when he says, "William. Named after your father, I suppose." (not necessarily word for word, but close :-) Hope that helps!
4	DJ7K Wed 4/23/2008 4:34p	^^^ I remember that scene. Jack and Will are debating about who is Dad was, naturally Will is defending who his father was and what he did, and Jack spins the wheel, and this part of the ship comes flying towards Will and sends him hanging over the water, Jack has a few words for him, and brings him back in and hands back his sword. Unless that was a different scene.

6	WilliamK99 Thu 4/24/2008 4:39a	Well mine, my dad, and my son's name is all William. To prevent confusion, I go by William My dad is Bill My son is Will So we all share the same name, but go by different names to prevent confusion, just like Will Turner and his dad, Bootstrap Bill....
