Has anyone ever got broken down on Pirates,Splash,or another water ride where you were in the open water space? If you have how do they get you out?

I know I ask some weird questions but I just like to know how these things work :)

I've never had it happen personally, but I've read stories from people who have gotten stuck in POTC. Once they decide that they will need to evacuate the ride, rather that just start it back up, the CM's get to put on some really lovely waders (those boots that sort of become overalls), and head out into the water. They then push the boats along until the closest point that they can unload (there are several hidden through the attraction), and let guests off there. Then they move the next boat, and the next boat, and so on. As you can see, it takes a lot of work, so they try to keep the guests in the boats if possible.

For Splash, I think it's a little easier, since the logs are next to "land" for almost the entire way (except the riverboat room). The water is also moving a lot faster, so they will be able to drift further once the motors turn off. From there, I would assume that they would go to the closest place where there are gates (they have them at the top of the drops and a couple other places, like under Brer Rabbit on the hand cart), and they will then begin to back up, like a traffic jam. From there, it seems like it would be pretty easy to evacuate the logs to the sets right next to them, and there seems to be a decent network of walkways through the attraction, as you can see some of them in the back of the "How Do You Do?" scene if you look carefully.

From my experiences on water rides, the water drains out and the boats/logs settle on the bottom, then you are escorted along the trough to the nearest walkway access and then lead out through the emergency exits.

Hi,
When I was a kid we stopped on POTC, they escorted us out around the scene where the village is on fire. I remember being helped out, and I noticed that the fire was actually colored cellophane blowing by a fan...kinda changed the way I look at the whole ride. Anyway it was cool!

Once my family got stuck on Pirates for almost an hour! We were at the part with the dog and the keys and the guys in jail. They just told us to stay there. but they do have exits, and it isn't that hard to get to them

Years ago, when ticket books were in use, my folks were on small world at Disneyland when it broke down. It was in the last room and the boat ahead of them could walk out, but they could not. There were stuck there for almost an hour and the music did not stop. When they finally reached the unload area they were asked if they wanted a re-ride or a comp "E" ticket for another attraction. The took the comp ticket.

Oh yes, and for Christmas that year I bought them the soundtrack to "it's a small world". We all had a good laugh on Christmas morning!
