where is bean and leemac in our time of need? Is Disney only greenlighting things that have cartoon tie-ins?

In Al's update .. TDA's gripe was having TWO "Walt Disney Story"s in both parks .. but it was my impression this newer and better version was to replace the one in DL. Which in my opinion was never that great .. and the potential for something truly great was possible.

Another "DCA 2.0" idea tossed out. What a shame!

As far as popularity was a possible concern .. Not if properly advertised.

Anyway ....
it didn't start with a mouse ....
It all started with Walt.

Another slap in the face to the one who started this entire universe called "Disney".

Interestingly ... they can have that one corner in the Animation building with exhibits of animation cels among other sketches ... but not even a hall to commemorate some of Walt's achievements.

No more filmed shows for DCA? Okay ... but some sort of exhibit would still be fitting.

Oh well.

I suppose my query is, why did they not put the preview centre in the new building rather than get rid of Seasons of the Vine? If they needed a temp place before construction, why not in the SF buildings?

>>there is no doubt that there is a market for the Princesses.<<

There was once a market for Who Wants To Be a Millionaire too. This company never learns.

There is a market for in-room ppv porno too. I am sure that a Gentlemen's Club would do well in DtD.

I can't believe they're really going to have this icon at the end of the entrance street and have it be empty. EMPTY? Can you imagine the field day the critics would have with that one?

Before it was supposed to be a new WD Story (an idea I like, by the way), I thought perhaps the new park centerpiece could be a "Welcome to California Visitors Center" - something to drive home the theme. It could be kind of like a little museum featuring displays, some interactive, on various regions of the state, history, geography, industry, etc. etc. Think of the better displays you see at places like Sea World or a natural history museum, mixed with a Disney flair. The idea being that outside the doors are fun representations of the "hard facts" you've just seen inside. I've also said this would be a good place to put Golden Dreams, in a much smaller theatre, for those who wish to see it.

It wouldn't be expensive, it would be directly on theme, it would be "edutainment," and it would certainly beat an empty building.

Hell, a food or even merch location would beat an empty building.

Put an Incredibles wave swing in it. I don't think there's an Incredibles wave swing yet, is there?

Its an homage to the disappearing SF buildings. DCA has always had brand new building that were shuttered from the get go. These new guys really are much better than the Pressler guys. It is a much prettier empty building.

I think the decision not to put an updated WD Story in DCA is great news. It is an indication of making the hard but right decisions for the long-term good of the park. The last thing DCA needs is yet another theater show.

Plus, a WD Story in DCA just doesn't seem to pass the 'smell test'. Walt's presence belongs at D'land - the only park where he actually spent time. Walt's spirit and imagination should be celebrated at DCA.

The ongoing refinement of the 5-year plan continues to make me feel we may in store for the best period since the mid-to-late 60's (Pirates, Mansion, the best version of T'land). With the opening of TSMM we'll see in a few weeks whether or not the new team can actually deliver. I'm not predicting a home run, a triple is all that's needed. And things sure look promising. . . .

Since Seasons of the Vine and the Whoopi show are closing the argument that a new Disney Story at DCA is one too many theaters shows doesn't make sense.
All times are Pacific Time (US)
