"Gay marriage was decided in the courts in Canada and Mass, which are two completely different courts with the same result."

You do realize that the legislature could have ammended the states constitution to stop the marriages. That they didn't do this seems to prove that the majority of people in that state are not opposed to gay people getting married. Hence, the system works as it's suppossed to.

>>So either looking at long-term history or what's actually happening now reveals your fears to be unfounded.<<

The long term history is yet to be decided, but you already decided the end of it.

>>Not quite. It had nothing to do with gay relationships, but rather sex. It used to be illegal in Texas even for consenting adults to have sex if both were the same sex. No more.<<

One and the same.

>>The court actually went out of its way, if you read the decision, to say this had nothing to do with marriage.<<

Of course, yet the court was clear that nothing is illegal about "doing what gays do."

It's the chipping away of old taboos and its working marvelously.

One would think, since I made the distinction between recent history and long-term history, AND talked about how polygamy has never been allowed in our long-term history (past tense) that by that term I meant long-term stretching backwards. Most people would understand this.

What?? Quickie sex and legal marriage are one and the same? Now you're off the deep end.

Sex between consenting adults should never have been illegal to begin with.

"Note what polygamous means: multiple marriages. Marriage is a legal term."

Correct, now that I see what you meant by "polygamous". You were using it in a more conventional/strict/culural context. So I do agree with you afterall.

But when I use the term "polygamous" I'm thinking more general.

And that is why I feel men, for the most part, are born polygamous meaning that zoologically/biologically/inherently us guys desire multiple partners.

Some people use the term "polyamory" to describe what you're talking about.

I agree. Now if you could just get my wife to understand...

Marriage = the way to channel a man's natural desires in one direction

Polygamy (or polyamory) = the way to channel a man's desires in the one natural direction
