When Frank Thomas and Ward Kimball dropped by, it was a very historic moment to see them all standing together along with Marie. So glad to have been there, and my best wishes go out to Ollie's family. The Nine Old Men are now all gone, but their spirit lives in our hearts and on our movie and TV screens forever. |

As someone else said earlier his legacy will live on for a very long time to come. |

| FiveBearRugs Tue 4/15/2008 7:39a | Hmmm...it appears that my little joke at the end of my original post could have used a disclaimer. If anyone had read Canemaker's "Nine Old Men" book, they would have known that Milt Kahl was somewhat of an impatient person and had a very volatile temper (which Ward Kimball LOVED to mess with)...
To reiterate my original post, Ollie was an inspiration to millions of upcoming animators and animation fans. His passing truly marks the end of the era, and it was a few LPers who taught me the legacy of Ollie and the rest of the Nine Old Men.
I enjoyed his cameos in "The Iron Giant" and "The Incredibles". I have not seen the Frank and Ollie movie yet, but I have been planning to. And of course, he and Frank wrote the wonderful Villains book. Thanks again, Mr. Johnston...

| WDWFreak92 Tue 4/15/2008 3:22p | I was shocked to hear the news of this. I was just recently watching the film "Frank & Ollie". It's so sad to know that generation of animators are gone. I know, however, that their work, especailly his, will live on for generations to come. Ollie will truly be missed. My prayers go out to his family. I'd like to think that finally the Nine Old Men are finally all reunited with each other and thier beloved boss again... |
