I realized last night that A Goofy Movie (along with the TV series Goof Troop), while not exactly a cinematic masterpiece, gave a darn good introducton of Goofy to a new generation of kids. He was experiencing modern problems and dealing with them in a real way. At the same time, he was totally able to stay in character. I think another important thing to note is that he wasn't really the star of either, but more of a supporting character. It showed people what he was all about without being all about him.
I don't really know what sort of situation they could think of for Mickey, but I would like to see a project on a similar scale for him. Nothing intended to break records or win awards, but more than enough to keep his legacy moving forward. Right now, he's sort of stagnating and not really doing anything all that exciting. It's really a waste of his potential. |

It's basically a longer treatment of many of the shorts from early in Mickey's career. But as opposed to a 7 minute cartoon, in a longer bit, Minnie can also be more developed... giving her kidnappers (Pete and the Beagle Boys?) fits as they try to keep her under wraps.
I don't know. I just want to see Mickey flying high again. |

Yeah, I would like to see A Mickey Movie. The treatments you suggest would be just fine. We can hope and wish...anyone have any connections to Disney animation? |

God I wish... I'd be telling them a lot more than what they should be doing with Mickey.
We need ol' Mick to come alive again. He's been so neglected... |

After all, the cartoons in the 30s were current for that time period -- no reason that new movies couldn't be produced.
On the flip side, I hate what Warner Bros. did to Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Taz, Sylvester, Tweety -- when they allowed them to become more urban. Wearing baggy pants and backward baseball caps, with their arms folded across their chest. Ick.
And by the way, who doesn't like Tom Hanks?
It's like not liking Jimmy Stewart. |

I can't remember if it was him or Minnie that was to be kidnapped, but Basil was supposed to help in the search.
I guess Kingdom Hearts got there first!!! |
