One school, including Shallenberg, Arsanti, Febreze, et. al., believe that sokk-mimi originated as the single-form deity by which he is now most recognized. Others, most notably Jenssen, Zout, and Barr, argue that sokk-mimi was born as a single deity, but in the form of two separate, identical, linked presences. While the two parts did not conjoin, and each travelled separately from the other, the (meta)physical halves were manifestations of the same solitary god. Proponents of the latter belief concede that sokk-mimi did, however, become a uni-bodied being at some point. Among this camp, there is disagreement as to how the corporal change ocurred. Some argue that the two manifestations of sokk-mimi did, indeed, eventually meld into one. It is notable that no motivation or cause has been suggested for this transformation. The much more widely held belief on this issue is that the two halves of the god arranged to meet each other, circa 1970 AD, in the laundry room of a human known as 'Erma Bombeck', and that one of them mysteriously disappeared there."
