| TheRedhead Thu 4/17/2008 12:17p | I used to buy comics all the time. But in the nineties it got really sad - it seemed to be all about the special issue with nine different silver-embossed covers all in sealed bags, rather than an actual story.
I got back into it when I got a copy of "League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen." I will read anything by Alan Moore. He is incredible.
So I just started following writers I liked. Everything Garth Ennis has done has been amazing. I used to love Grant Morrison (his "Animal Man" was awesome), but now he's even weirder but more pretentious. Joss Whedon is shaping up to be my favorite new writer.
And I like the "Y - Last Man on Earth" series. Not perfect, but good. |

Heh. Did you read "Lost Girls?" |

| DAR Thu 4/17/2008 12:21p | My favorite writer is right now is probably Geoff Johns. Though I think he's pigeonholed as to what he can really do from the powers that be at D.C.. And his stuff is terrific anyway. I think if they really took the reins he'd truly be special. I love Mark Millar's work and he's responsible for perhaps my favorite comic run ever when he did The Authority. |

I was getting really upset with the change in the books back then and sold off most of my collection. I had about 10,000 books at that time. I don't buy many anymore but still enjoy a few. |

| Liberty Belle Sun 4/20/2008 9:24p | I'm definitely a DC girl. I used to read about 15 titles a month, but had to cut down a couple of years ago and now only pick up a comic every once in a while. It makes me a bit sad and I'd love to read them regularly again, but I was getting to the point where I'd buy them and not have the time to read them, so it was a real waste of money. My favourite titles were always Batman, Superman, Nightwing and Birds of Prey - I'm pretty mainstream! |

| FiveBearRugs Mon 4/21/2008 12:39a | LiBel et al: have any of you read Justice by Alex Ross? It was a 12-issue series that was later put into 3 hardcover volumes.
It was done as a serious version of Challenge of the Superfriends, as the Legion of Doom successfully discredits the JLA and helps those that the JLA could not, such as the blind and the hungry. Not only did he use an exclusive gallery of heroes and Villains, but he also used just about all the sidekicks as well.
I first heard about the series when I bought this shirt at Hot Topic, and then asked a local comic book store about it. This design was also used as the cover for volume 2, whilst vols 1 and 3 used the JLA.
