I also forgot to mention my two biggest pet peeves with current comics: Superboy shockwaves and "It's magic" Seriously. Peter Parker dealing with the devil. What the heck? One More Day was a total waste of time and money.

However, looking at Batman - I'm curious to see what's going to happen with "Batman R.I.P"

>>My all time favorite was Bone by Jeff Smith.<<

Did you read his Shazam book? It was a modern updating on the Monster Society of Evil story from way back. It was pretty cool.

Anyone see the "Justice League: The New Frontier" DTV movie? I thought it was rather excellent and a very worthwhile blind buy for me (even though I have the book).

BlueDevil, I have been dating whether to buy the movie after being disapointed by Superman: Doomsday, is it worth a purchase?

New Frontier was terrific, Superman/Doomsday is a bit of a letdown.

Definitely. It is MUCH better than Superman/Doomsday (which I didn't like, either).

The animation and voice acting are very good, and they did a terrific job adapting that big book into a 90-minute movie.

Did you see the trailer at the DC Comics website?

Oh, man, you took the words right out of my mouth, eww. I'm so irked over that whole storyline. Joe Quesada just took ~50 years of continuity & threw it out the window without a care. He took established character traits of May & Peter and spit on it. I was irked about it when it first came out, but I've become more upset after reading scenes from past Spider-Man stories that people posted on Scans Daily on LiveJournal that show that Aunt May has lead a great life & wouldn't want Peter to give anything up to keep her alive. She's ready to go and be with Ben. Spider-Man continuity shows this, but Joey Q just doesn't care.

I read a quote from him in Wizard that just fits the whole OMD debacle so perfectly. I don't have it in front of me, but this was from an interview with him a couple of years ago, and he was asked about creating interesting storylines vs. keeping an ongoing continuity in the books. He said that he'd hate to give up an interesting premise just because it would mess with continuity. He said he'd rather go with the story & worry about the continuity later. Yeah. . . that's worked real well. . .

I tend to not read any of the big named comic books anymore. Spider-Man, Batman, Superman, X-Men and Wolverine. I love the characters and will check them out in JLA or Avengers stories, but I don't think there's really anything interesting you can do with them anymore.

That's why I like Birds of Prey so much right now. The writers who've worked on it have done a great job of evolving the characters. (Well, except for Gilbert Hernandez. What was DC thinking?)
