I think for the most part a theme park should have a solid mix of attractions. I think the HRP already has a lot for the kids. The Garage Jam multi-story play structure with ball shooters, Kids Rock State Park, with climbing walls, ropes courses, and a play structure. The Punk Pit bounce house with a room for every member of the family. And Reggae River Falls water play area. Plus all the flat rides/spinners. But I can see that there is very little for the toddler crowd. the 5-12 year olds are covered, but the offerings for the <5 set is a little slight. But that should be cheap enough to fix.
I think that after it is all up and running it will be a stronger park than DCA when it opened, but still falls short of IOA. None the less a stellar effort for a fresh out of the box new brand of theme park.

Mr. X, you and I could design a park that is stronger than DCA when it opened lol...

Funny, I think DCA is a much better park than IOA. Different strokes.

Legoland is an interesting park to cite as being well rounded for families. I took my 2 y/o and 3 y/o to Legoland California last spring. That place had ALMOST NOTHING we could do together. It's structure for ride heights made absolutely no sense.

My young family has been to Lego, WDW, DL, Universal Orlando, Sea World on both coasts, King's Island, and Holiday World. There was no "family park" more disappointing than Lego. Other than the apple fries, it was a big waste of time and money.

Dave!!!!!

Spidey?!?

Hulk?!?!

JP?!?!

Dudley Do Right?!?

CiTH?!?!

The whole Lost Continent section?!?!

Did you ever see the old Poseidon thing show? That water vortex thing you walked through was better than almost all of DCA together!

Duelling Dragons?!?!?

Hell, even the ENTRY of IOA is better themed than all of DCA!!!!

I like IOA, but we were finished by 3pm, but it can take us days to do DCA. I like the coasters of IAO, but I think Screamin' is more fun. Would rather go on Grizzly than DDRF or Bluto's.

Aladdin, Animation, Muppetvision, ITTBAB, Screamin', Soarin' Grizzly, ToT, and Monsters Inc are fab attractions.

At IOA, I really am only fussed about Spidey, CitH, the Coasters, and JP. And the only one of those I can do with my whole family is CitH.

IOA is fun, but I prefer DCA. I love the Golden State Theming, I think HPB is great, and PP is lovely at night.

I agree, IOA is a more attractive park. But we skipped it our last trip to FLA.

Until last year, while IOA is a fantastic park, it wasn't really for our family, because the kids were too young. But this past year we went and everyone had a good time. Now, we can all do all the rides, and the kids actually prefer the Universal oarks over the Disney parks. 2 years ago this wouldn't have been the case. IOA is not really a park for the entire family. They do have stuff everyone can do, but for the seniors and smaller kids there isn't enough to fill up a day. But for those groups there is always Disney down the road. Now if your looking for a launched coaster with 7 loops or intertwinted near collision suspended coasters there is IOA.
As far as comparing it to DCA, I feel IOA is superior in just about every way. DCA has some really cool stuff, but I am confused as to how you can explore it for days as the last 2 times I was there we were done with it by about 1:00pm and headed back to DL. We did hop back over to catch Aladdin, but for the most part, of our 3 days at the DLR we spent less than 4 hours in DCA.
All times are Pacific Time (US)
