Different strokes. This last trip, I think we spent equal time in DCA to DL. The repeatability of Turtle Talk, DEP, Redwood Challenge Trail, Golden Dreams and the Factory tours also appeal to us.

We like edutainment, and DCA has far more of it than IOA. When we went to Orlando in 2000, we were actually disappointed with IOA. But we must have spent a huge amount of time in Lost Continent, that was the only endearing place for us (except JP maybe), and they ripped the trike out of JP and now are ruining their best themed area with the highly overrated Harry Potter. Not cool.

Not too fussed about the dino leaving JP. It wasn't working when we were there anyway. Actually the JP area pissed me off after I learned I couldn't ride the pteranadon flyers because I wasn't a kid!

It was the first time I was actually angry when visiting a theme park.

As for you Dave, you sound like a very interesting person. I can't wait to hear what you think of TDS. I think you're going to be ENTHRALLED by the Fortress and its various exploration nooks and crannies aimed at discovery and learning.

I personally love IOA, but, I can see where someone who is not a thrill ride seeker won't like it. There truly is not much for someone who doesn't like thrill rides. They need to add a few attractions that the whole family can ride together (something like Disney's Haunted Mansion, Small World, etc).

As for the Pterandon Flyers, Bob. You really didn't miss much. It basically was a suspended kiddie coaster with no hills and is over in about 30 seconds after the lift hill. It was poorly designed for capacity from the 'get-go', which is why no adults without children are allowed to ride. Bad move by Universal, to be sure. However, the rest of the Camp Jurassic area is extremely cool! I love getting lost in the tunnels there. Very well done!

Thanks Bob. I am looking forward to TDR for three key reasons:

- TDS
- To observe the sociological and cultural take on Disney Japanese style
- Meet the Eastern LPers

I like thrills, but I don't have to fly halfway around the world for them, we have coasters here in the UK. I will fly halfway around the world for immersive environments and unique attractions. Also throw in some live entertainment in my parks, and professional shows. Then not to forget some evening spectaculars.

Having spent about 11 hours in DCA yesterday, I would say that it's better than IOA. Yes it has it's flaws, but it's more upfront about them, and you gradually learn to love the park. IOA is the other way around, where it's all spectacle and dazzle up front, but at the heart of it, there's not much there. The stuff in DCA, I can do over and over, but I've spent 2 days (seperate trips) total in IOA, and I don't feel like I really need to go back there any time soon. I was able to do everything (or darn close to it) on both trips, including repeats of bigger things. There's just not much calling me back.

See thats how I feel about DCA. I haven't been since 2002, and have absolutely no desire to return until after the redo.

Well dsyates, different strokes and all that. But Aladdin (quite honestly the greatest stage show I have seen in a park anywhere) ToT, Monsters Inc, Animation's redo inc crush, Playhouse Disney is a hit with our little ones, as is Flik's Fun Fair. They have also fleshed out redwook creek challenge trail. In the same time at IOA they have added Monkey McBean and taken out the trike, dumbed down ddrf, and dumbed down the sfx show in LC.

IOA is great for the teens, and it is a fun day out, but not a priority for us. But DCA is my wife's favorite park on the planet.

I'd really like to hear more about the Hard Rock park
