Wow, William, I guess you and I are destined to disagree about absolutely everything!<<

Not everything, if they would have added a few Disney characters to Speed Racer, I would have absolutely loved it. ;o)

Well I can't share my hatred of the movie with William looks fantastic, can't wait until the blu ray disc comes out next month ;P. But it's just extremely mediocore.

From a story standpoint. Plus they should have dubbed the voices badly. And said lines like "Ho ho you can't not beat me today. Yes I will beat you today ho ho.

They should have spent less money on effects and more on the storyline and actors.

How much storyline can you expect from Speed Racer anyway?

If they're down to making (semi) live action versions of stuff like Speed Racer, I think it's only a matter of time before we get "Tennessee Tuxedo and Chumley: The Motion Picture."

Well, we've had Inspector Gadget--TWICE (sorta, the 2nd wasn't a movie, but a direct-to-DVD)--so it's not TOO different from TN Tux! Sort of a Gadget-meets-Happy Feet...

... with Jack Nicholson as Phineas J. Whoopee, I hope.

I don't see why you can't base a movie on ANYTHING and have it turn out interesting. I mean, we got kind of a cult classic out of Josie and the Pussycats, didn't we? And then there was that silly Pirate thing based on a theme park ride. They got one good movie from that too.

It's no different from any other High-Concept Hollywood poop. They can't help but strike gold occasionally.

I wonder how things are going with Michael Eisner and that Bazooka Joe feature of his?

And howzabout a Haunted Mansion feature?
