<<Also, one has to ask. did Disney lie to itself and to us? Since the first press release and even that video w/ the HK Ambassador, they said this would be EXCLUSIVE to HKDL. This from PR and the HK Ambassador. But then they decide in the middle that its going in SOME form to DL? ummmmmmmm.........>>

LOL, I guess you never saw the first press release when Hong Kong Disney was being built, did you? According to THAT press release, HKDL was getting around 30 attractions, a roller coaster ride that goes through Adventureland, a Little Mermaid AND Peter Pan attraction in FL, TOONTOWN with its own roller coaster and FROTIERLAND with not only a White Water ride, but also a Haunted Mansion and on and on. Anyway, have a look for yourself:

http://www.solarius.com/dvp/dl...view.htm

Now, they managed to reduced the park 1/3 of what was planned and several theme lands than what we got, which people are convinced was the ORIGINAL pitch of this park that sold China on building the park in the first place...but for some reason people are bothered that some press release said this ride would only be exclusive to HKDL---even though IASW itself is litterally cloned in every MK park anyway? Really, compared to the 'lie' that the entire project was sold on to begin with, putting in a couple Disney dolls in a ride no one will be talking about in a year is far, far from blasphemy ;).

Oh yeah, I will add in the first official press release Disney promised Tomorrowland would get a huge water fountain for the kids to play in and gosh darn it, that's actually one promise they delivered on ;).

Oh and Mawnck, I hope you don't think my lunatic rants are directed at you directly ;). You stated it could go either way and I get that, I'm just strictly in the other camp, that's all :).

But the post is just a general one and not directed at you or anyone in particular, you just happen to actually respond ;).

Well .. so far I've seen one video .. The one with the "skewed" look at the ride. With horrible resolution .. I can't make out the few Disney characters that are in it.

But I will contend .. Whether those Disney characters "blend in" or not .... There's a fundamental 'switch' in the way the ride is viewed ..... Which many of us have stated in one way or another.

Wow! The wonders of Youtube!
Watched a different cut .. this time with the Disney characters ... Bambi's placement right from the beginning - Not only does my focus go on him, and flashing on his backstory to the 1943 film take away from my focus from the main driving point of IASW ... but his placement in world geography was too frickin weird.

If I'm not mistaking .. I believe Baloo is in a scene .... and the rest of them - ugh!

When I ride 'it's a small world' ... I like how the nondescript characters establish a tone .. that matches the lyrics of 'it's a small world'. When I look at the Disney characters .. I loose that.

Hong Kong's version is more like a toy store with dolls of a different sort thrown in (Mr. Marketeer's Wonder Emporium!).... while pretty "on the outside" ... goes against the grain of the underlying themes I've cherished for years. Themes I understood even at age 6.
