So I just noticed Pocahontas and Meeko on a snow covered mountain amongst pine trees and a Canadian Mountie. YIKES!

Seriously WDI?!?! I hope they don't pull that kind of junk in Anaheim. You'll have American Indians and anyone who paid attention in Sophomore history class storming City Hall in a heartbeat.

TIP: Pocohontas lived in the part of North America that was known by the British as Virgina Colony, near present day coastal Williamsburg. There are no snow covered mountains, and no pine trees there. Also, it is nowhere near Canada and there are no Mounties in Virginia.

If you have any questions WDI, you can rent a Pocohontas DVD at your local Blockbuster video to get some ideas about placing Pocohontas in the American room instead of next to the Canadian Mountie on a snow covered mountain.

It seems that they are fiddling w/ the sound levels, cause on the newest video posted yesterday, the Scandanavian, French, and Italian tracks are turned WAY up and the movie song tracks turned down.

The YouTube video mentioned in the original post is being compared to another video in a different thread on the HK board:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...mxJF0GrQ

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...Zyk_Cjlw

When you put the two video windows side-by-side and play them one after another, from room to room, it's easy to spot the "agenda" of the videographer (hkdisneycrazy) for the first link.

No less than eight Disney character scenes are completely avoided in this video:

* Marie above the Can-Can dancers
* Cinderella and Prince Charming in front of the castle
* Peter Pan and Tink flying around the crescent moon
* Pinocchio puppet show in Italy
* Simba, Pumbaa, and Timon in Africa (can see briefly but hard to distinguish)
* Pocahontas and Meeko in Canada
* Mulan in China
* Lilo & Stitch on the surfboard

That's too many to be considered merely a coincidence. The videographer achieved this by hyperfocusing on the opposite shore from the Disney characters, or zooming in on neighboring non-Disney characters to avoid showing them.

When Disney characters in the foreground do appear onscreen (unlike the Lion King characters in the African background), it's in situations where two scenes are directly across from one another, as is the case for Pocahontas in Canada on the left and Woody and Jessie in the US on the right, as well as Ariel, Flounder, Marlin, Dory, and Peach undersea on the left, with Lilo & Stitch on the surfboard on the right. The videographer could not avoid taping them, and had to make a choice between the two (or tape the canal water in front of the boat). It would seem the "least egregious" of the Disney characters were chosen in both cases.

And notice the video transition between Italy on the left and Ireland on the right? The transition is completely unnecessary, since it happens too quickly to justify a tape change or camera switch. It was obviously added to hide the Pinocchio puppet scene between Italy and Ireland which the videographer must have inadvertently taped.

If the primary goal was to get the fans to believe that very few Disney characters have been added to HKDL's small world, then hkdisneycrazy's video has done its job. Hopefully, the other HKDL small world videos out on YouTube with better coverage of the ride will get higher traffic.

If you'd like to see the eight missing scenes, there are other videos on YouTube worth watching, in addition to the second link above. Don't judge the ride solely by this one video from hkdisneycrazy. It's quite misleading.

Interesting, idleHands. There are definitely more characters shown in the second video.

My opinion remains: the ride is not ruined, but it is "minused." Moreover, the overall "day at the park" experience is minused because here's yet another attraction with characters, thus making it less distinct.

Thanks for that, idleHands. I was wondering myself what happened to all the other characters that we'd heard about, especially our buddy Stitch. Your analysis explains it. ONCE AGAIN they're trying to trick us into liking it.

And just to reiterate ... the video was posted on, that's right kids, Friday night. WHAT a coink-i-dink!

A few more observations:

The second video appears to be a more accurate, and certainly more in-focus version of the ride.

And here comes more!:

I assume there will be a Part 4 presently. Mostly wide shots in this one - gives you the best idea of where everything is in relation, and catches a couple of very big empty spaces as well.

Oh ... My ... Gosh ... they ARE playing Under the Sea over by Ariel (and possibly Part of Your World also, which given the circumstances would be nauseatingly appropriate). Under the Sea is just a few notes, IN A DIFFERENT KEY! Link 3 above catches it. They must've had a gun to that poor arranger's head. You'd need a music theory class or two to even figure out what it is. Everyone else would just wonder about the wrong notes.

Bare Necessities can also be clearly heard in the videos above. It doesn't work either.

One goose per scene, huh? I wonder if it's two of our four remaining ones? Guess we'll see, won't we, Imagineering. :-P

Pocahontas is in the snow-capped peaks halfway between the Mountie and the Golden Gate Bridge. This says to me she's somewhere around Washington state at best, which is a bit of a haul from Virginia, especially in a kayak. However, I see the Statue of Liberty is there too. 20 years from now, Chinese students will know less about geography than American ones do.

Hey - on top of that totem pole - wasn't that fish in Yellow Submarine?

HMButler79 - can you confirm that Cindy and company were in the first video when you originally watched it? In other words, were they removed AFTER the video was first posted?

there are some good points to everyones comments, some things do look a bit out of place i think mainly because we are not used to seeing them.

But overall seeing the attraction in person now its actually very colorful and very well done.

The video does no justice for the lighting and overall presentation of the sets. The audio in the video is terrible and makes the music sound very bad.

I think its dificult to judge the attraction via a poorly done video that does not show you the overall experience. For much of the video many sets are not even visible.

Yes, Cindy is in the the 1st video and other videos focus on just her when the boat passes by.
