<<And seriously, there's about a hundred dolls missing compared to the Anaheim version. At least a hundred, maybe around a hundred and fifty. It's not all because of the smaller sets and reduced scope either, there's just missing dolls throughout the ride.>>

Where have you been??? This is HKDL we are talking about lol. Half-@$$in is the name of the game in that park ;). While all the attractions are decent there, the ONLY attraction that is an improvement over any of DL's clones is 'Pooh' which is just a direct clone from Florida's anyway and DL is simply god awful. The rest were either cloned exactly as is or basically stripped of something. The JC could be argued an 'improvement' in the sense it's a little different from the others with a bigger ending, but since they took away half the animals and the show scenes, its a little hard to celebrate that as well.

hkdisneycrazy (poster of the "suspicious" video) responds:

>>Actually, I didn't avoid the Disney characters.I took this video in my first ride. I even didn't notice where they are.<<

From the comments at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...mxJF0GrQ

My thoughts, since you asked:

Having taken live video of things I was unfamiliar with, I can see how he/she MIGHT have focused primarily on the closer shoreline (IE the one on the right). And he/she certainly didn't shy away from showing us Woody and Jessie, which are two of the more egregious departures from the Mary Blair style. (For instance, try counting how many of the original IASW kids have long legs.)

Also, if it was a Disney-sponsored video, they surely knew that other videos with a more complete view of the ride would shortly follow, which would seem to make this exercise rather pointless.

File this under "peculiar, but inconclusive."

Anyway, it doesn't change the fact that they appear to have timed the soft-opening so the first videos would hit late Friday night.

Whadayamean you didn't ask?

I think the disappointed DL fans are certainly entitled to their opinions of the ride. The magic of Disney is that it means something a little different to each person. If this ride change reduces some of their magic, who am I to argue that?

But for me the ride lookes so similar that the placement of DL characters felt blended into the ride. I know my daughter will get a kick out of it when it re-opens. I have said before that since she has never seen the old ride, the new ride will be all she ever knows. I think she will love the dancing dolls and the song no matter what. And while I may miss aspects of the previous ride, I will be able to enjoy the magic she feels with the new one.

In response to post #72, I lol when a poster in this thread was trying to show us 'evidence' that the videographer for the first IASW video was purposely trying to 'hide' the fact there were more Disney characters on it.

I mean c'mon guys, we are doing conspiracy theories now??? For an attraction in just a weeks time will be videotaped and pictured by thousands of people and everything will be thrown up on the internet like it is now makes it a little futile. I think Disney is bright enough to realize they aren't going to be able to 'sneak' past the characters once the actual ride is open and I HIGHLY doubt they convinced what is obviously just an amateur fan videotaping for his collection to 'miss' certain character moments while he seems to have no problem zooming in on other characters for some reason.

It's also a little silly considering there's a PRESS RELEASE and OFFICIAL WEB SITE already telling you there are 38 Disney characters in the ride already that anyone can look up that information out without ever seeing the ride for themselves.

Maybe it really is just the guys first time on the ride EVER and not as much of an expert to where to point his camera on a ride he has never even ridden before.

I mean, I know we are Disney dorks here, but c'mon, the conspiracy theories are a little too out there, even for this place ;).

I agree that you'd need a heckuva lot of evidence before you should seriously buy into these conspiracy theories, but there's a heckuva lot of evidence in that video. And it's not something I'd put past them, after seeing the tone and content of their other recent communiques. They're obviously REALLY determined to convince us that it's a good thing. But yeah, on the face of it, it's pretty out there.

Let's just file it under "peculiar, but inconclusive" and move on to other things.

""They're obviously REALLY determined to convince us that it's a good thing.""

Yep. They are trying to 'brainwash' us and then flip us off by bringing out Marty and Dave and Kim. And now we have proof that its NOT a good thing.
