I love Neil Diamond, but I think I love him mostly because my mom loved him and listened to him and my brother and I made fun of him. We are particularly fond of the "Hot August Night" album cover. LOL

I'm looking forward to Neil Diamond night on American Idol.

Love on the rocks...ain't no surprise ;-)

I will tolerate no ill will towards Mr. Diamond in this thread.

:) Sorry, guys. Didn't mean to tread on sacred ground. His voice just bugs. But, the man can write songs. I'll definitely give him that!

My A#1 song of his. The only one I can genuinely say that I "love". Beautiful.

1. Whitney Houston.

Exhibit A: "The Greatest Love of All". That was playing in the grocery store yesterday. I had to make a detour to the aspirin aisle. Several small children dove into freezers to escape the yowling sounds of her screeching high notes.

Exhibit B: "I Will Always Love You". Anyone who went to a wedding in the 90's had to suffer through that endless wail as the happy couple had their "first dance". You were counting the minutes until "Celebration" would be played by the DJ. It is impressive that Whitney sang the entire song in one breath, with no noticable key change.

If ever there was a singer that goes to 11, it's Whitney. How did she get missed on this list?

Billy Corgan?!?! Seriously? I love the Smashing Pumpkins, so I guess I'm biased. At least he's got a unique voice, which is a lot more than can be said for half the male singers out there today.

I quite liked Lily Allen the first time I heard her, but the more I've heard her the more she reminds me of The Streets, and there's no worse crime than THAT.

Oh, and I don't like the guy from Creed. He sounds like he's trying way too hard to sound deep!

Neil Diamond, with some work, appreciation is possiblish.

Until one spends enough Independence Days being subjected to fireworks synched up with "Coming to America."

How in the hell is Tom Petty annoying? He is as relaxing as they come.
