| The Goddess Mara Tue 4/22/2008 2:17p | This was posted today in the Laughing Place news section: "Stitch coming to the Tiki Rooom in Tokyo The third incarnation of The Enchanted Tiki Room at Tokyo Disneyland will open July 25. The full name is The Enchanted Tiki Room - Stitch in Aloha, E Komo Mai (after the theme song to Stitch! The Series) and replaces The Enchanted Tiki Room - Get The Fever! that debuted in '99. The nine minute show will feature the original refurbished birds and the mischievous Stitch performing several songs from the movie and TV series. Stitch is an upgraded version of the Audio-Animatronic that is the centerpiece to the Stitch's Great Escape! attraction at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom."
Interesting--the show is only 9 minutes, really short! But it'll be great to have the original birds back. Not sure about Stitch, though--and it'll be interesting to see how the lines are. |

Now, let the debates begin! |

There are different ways in which songs are licensed. One is just to license the song and have it play. The other is to license it and use it in some dramatic part of the story, which is what I gather they did with Stitch. The latter costs much more. |

No! Also they decided not to feature the original song either. The music is from the movie (like Hawaiian Rollercoaster Ride) and TV show (like the title track).
I think the reason why it is running shorter now is to get capacity up - Stitch is the most popular character at TDR (in terms of merchandise sales) and so it will be extremely popular. Makes sense to keep it to a decent length.
I won't give away all of the story but suffice to say that the Tiki Birds think Stitch is a tiki god. :-) |

But than again the Find Stitch Event also had no Elvis music but it still worked. I'm just hoping the attraction will still use the original Tiki Room theme song.
As for wanting to build up the capacity, I really hope Stitch manages to do that, as the theatre shows like Tiki Room, and Country Bears seem to be on the decline at the Disney parks, and its a shame because these small short shows really help occupy your time while you escape from the weather, or wait until your next Fast Pass window or show/parade to start. |

Yuck. But I'm sure it will play well to the audience in Japan - they seem to just LOVE their character stuff. But let's hope this doesn't make it's way to The States!! |

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the original song is absent - they tried to make it fit but it just didn't sound right when sandwiched between the Stitch Hawaiian tunes. |
