Thankfully the Tony committee were sensible enough to not acknowledge the set design. :-)

That is still one nomination more than it deserved - the new music is sub-par at best so I can only think this is the recognize the original score. Natasha Katz is a very talented lighting designer and worked wonders with the barest stage on Broadway.

Glad the committee also ignored Frankenstein bar three nods.

A big slap went to Young Frankenstein, definitely. Not giving the King Of Broadway a nod for score was sweet and justified.

We can only assume nominating Mermaid for score was because people still love Howard Ashman.

And back to Frankenstein for a sec...the official title of the show is ridiculous. "The New Mel Brooks Musical Young Frankenstein." It's like when they used to say "Toy Story, A Disney Presentation of a Pixar Film."

"The Little Mermaid" fared better at Broadway.com's Audience Awards, with 8 nominations (2nd only to "Young Frankenstein's" 10).
