Even though we're sort of discussing this topic in other threads, I thought I'd start a separate topic just for Heaven and Hell. We all seem to have different ideas of what they are and what they will be like (or if they exist at all). Please share what you think the afterlife will be like.

Heaven: A timeless experience where your soul, freed from the bounds of your body, resides in an environment of beauty and love.

Hell: A timeless experience where your soul, freed from the bounds of your body, resides in an environment without beauty and love.

HELL: I have two meanings here. The first one I call it spirit prison, a temporary place after you die for those who died without a knowledge of the Jesus or those who chose not to follow him.

Second, it is the permanent location of Satan, his angels (who never lived on this earth), and a very small number of people who just decide to fight against God, even after KNOWING who He is.

HEAVEN: I believe in 3 degrees of Heaven. All are places of unimaginable beauty and peace. The highest degree is for people who are faithful to follow Christ to the end, and eventually grow to be like He and His Father.

Heaven is a place of beauty which you get to choose.

Hell is waiting at the DMV with nothing but James Blunt music playing over the loudspeaker.

Heaven: Eternal fellowship with Jesus Christ. I really don't know all that much about it, but I know I want to be with Jesus... to steal someone else's demonstration, I'm like my dog, when my dog knows I'm on the other side of the door. It doesn't really matter what else is in the room. The Master is there, so that is where I want to go.

Hell: Eternal separation from Jesus Christ. Not fun.

These are my serious answers, not my "I get to design Heaven" answers.

I thought more about Heaven. I think it's a place on Earth. If you know what that's worth. We'll make Heaven a place on Earth.

Hell, refugees in Darfur, DRC (Congo) where women are raped and slaughtered everyday. Ethiopia a few years ago where people were dieing of starvation everyday. Orphans in Africa where their parents died of Aids. Adults and children who have been blown to pieces in the streets of Iraq.

Heaven, A fantasy place for the faithful where everything is so beautiful and full of love and the dreams of a better everlasting afterlife! Someplace like WDW where rich people can visit and get away from everyday stresses, appropriately called Fantasyland and Tomorrowland.

Disney Parks are a perfect rendition of what to expect after death. Wonderful and joyous or horrible and grotesque.

Why do some people need to be reassured what will happen to them if they don't believe in God/Jesus/Allah etc etc etc?

Heaven: An imaginary utopia used to lull untold millions into believing in a particular religious creed.
All the good and wonderful things of our world.

Hell: An imaginary place of misery and torment used to terrify untold millions into believing in a particular religious creed.
All the terrible things of our world.

I also believe that Heaven will be pretty familiar, a place with the beauty of our Earth, but far more beautiful.

And that we get to continually learn, grow, and love forever and ever, and continue our family relationships forever if we choose.

I dunno what heaven and hell are like, but I don't know that I'd want to live forever and ever and ever. At some point, it'd be nice just to power down, you know? Give me a healthy 80 years or so and that'd be swell. Living in an eternity, it'd be cool for the first 100 years. Then what? Skydiving loses its thrill if you know you can't die. You can only play so much Trivial Pursuit.

Heaven for me would be quietly checking out surrounded by people I love.
