Wow, someone doesn't like rich people. I happen to know a number of rich people that go to church. They go for various reasons and believe they are good people. For the most part (at least the ones that I know) are. But being good and being Christian are two different things (as many Muslims, Jews and Hindus would attest). |

I'm not trying to say that, but I do acknowledge that is sounds like it.
Rich people have less reason to go to church. That's why I think they are less likely to go to church for guilt, as someone else was claiming.
I also don't know any rich people in church. |

I would never consider any of my many brothers lords over me. I think the concept of an older brother being the heir and lord over siblings is an antiquated one. In our modern society, siblings generally inherit their parents' wealth in equal shares.
Nevertheless, your concept of older brother Jesus seems to be different than the traditional Christian viewpoint. Too bad some real Christians (unlike me) aren't chiming in to give their thoughts. I would guess that the concept brings mankind a little too close to His level for comfort. |

That's the thing. Just like Eighth wrote, that sort of assumes that we (Prince Harry) can end up at that level too.
Which is fine. You guys believe that, and it's no crazier than the other beliefs out there.
HOWEVER, it is absolutely, very very different from the way most christian denominations view things. |

Which surprises me, considering what Jesus taught:
"Be ye therefore perfect, even as your father which is in heaven is perfect." Matthew 5:48
What do you think He meant by that?

| utahjosh Tue 4/29/2008 11:00p | Oh, and there is more:
The Bible explains that God is the father of our spirits. Hebrews 12:9, Acts 17:28 Psalms 82:6
Isn't it the nature of things for children to grow up to be like their parents?
The Bible also tells us that we can be "one" in the very same sense that Christ and His Father are "one."
"The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of god: and if children, then heirs; heirs of god, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together." Romans 8:14-18

You'd be better off asking a devout christian about this stuff, because as I said many times before I think the Mormon nonsense is no more or less silly than any of the other nonsense.

I'm not sure what you consider "rich", but I know quite a few "rich" people that go to church. And you must not be Catholic if you don't know how powerful a force guilt can be!! ;-)

I don't mean to turn this into a bible bashing thread. I just wanted to point out a couple of scriptures that make we wonder why other religions think our potential to become like the Father is crazy. |
