Agreed. The afterlife I believe in is not that way. |

| teddibubbles Fri 4/25/2008 1:09a | Hell...A place of torment beyond human knowledge or expectation. created for creatures of darkness. to be cast off in dark horrible torment. for to be born in the flesh. we inherited a dark stain cast in human kind. passed on generation to generation called sin. and all mankind will be cast there. and under this rule of being covered / inherited sin. called the covering of the stain of darkness. then after a time .death and hell will be cast into the lake of fire. to burn for all eternity never ending hellish torment!
Heven.. A place no man can earn on his own merit! A place where the Lord God.is Making A City For Them that seek Him In Truth And Spirit. Where Knowing The Blood that was spilled on a cross. cleansed us of all our inherited stain called sin. Where We Will Know what Love is.and in its purest form TRUE LOVE.. pure and clean . because that we were born again of the spirit. back on earth CLEANED By The Blood Of Jesus! And receive the true PEACE Life. That Far surpasses our Human Understanding

Unequivocally, I can say that when I read this, I thought the poster was trying to speak through some archaic computer language, especially since it was in CAPS and all.

| dshyates Fri 4/25/2008 6:09a | I haven't read a single post in this thread because my beliefs are wrong and have been told so everytime I voice them, but I will answer as honestly as possible. Heaven- the feeling I got when in Dec 1971, as a 7 year old, riding the monorail from the Poly to the MK the very first time. Hell- As a parent in the waiting room while your child is having a risky life saving surgery. I don't believe in any kind of after life. I am blown away that we would be so presumptous that one gift of life is not enough. Oh, and the real life given to us obviously sucks as the one "afterlife" we made up for ourselves is soooo much better than the miricle we are living everyday. (Steps back from the microphone and is prepared to be escorted from the building as an obvious lunatic.) |

You are not a lunatic - you stated your opinion and this thread, for all the back and forth, has stayed pretty clean of harsh rhetoric. So thanks for your comments.
I will say that I think the two things you mention (as a 7 year old on the monorail and then waiting for a child in the o.R.) are both, in my opinion, excellent examples of glimpses of heaven and hell. The joy and exhilaration of that monorail ride for first time I think gives a glimpse of the thrill of heaven. Being a parent waiting for a child in surgery and feeling the dread and overwhelming sense of helplessness are also good metaphors for the despair of hell.
As a believe, I think we do get "snapshots" of both heaven and hell while we are here. We are wired for them. We are wired for eternity too, and the gift of life is an eternal one, so I don't see it as denying our life here.
IMO this life is the opening act and the main event is yet to come.

I think we're in the 2nd act of a 3 act play. |

I know what you mean by that but I doubt others do. But don't you guys believe the pre-existance goes back forever? I have always had a hard time with being sandwiched in between 2 eternities and having this "2nd act" being so meaningful to the future of our souls.
I like to think that god would be a little bit more rational. |

| utahjosh Fri 4/25/2008 2:36p | I don't know how the life before this one worked exactly. I presume we've always existed in one form or another.
If we've had an eternity to prepare for this short 2nd act, wouldn't that be enough preparation?
I don't have an issue with that, it doesn't bother me, it makes sense. On top of that, I trust that God's timing is correct. |

For those who might be confused: I believe that we all lived as spirits, as children of God, before we came to this Earth. |
