At the time I invited him, I was unaware that OLC didn't allow its employees access to the parks when they weren't working. I would have just as soon met him at one of the great restaurants at Ikspiaria. For that $50 he spent on his ticket, I could have bought him Shabu-Shabu at Imahan!

If you like Shabu-Shabu, there's another great place at Shoppers on the 4th floor. Somewhat less expensive, and I believe they have an all you can eat option as well.

Sounds great--where is Shoppers Plaza?

Shin-Urayasu station, just one stop from Maihama (going towards Soga, NOT Tokyo).

You should check out that zone if you have time, it's very cool with lots of great restaurants and shopping.

Can't miss Shoppers Plaza there, there's a huge sign (the other side of the station from the hotels). Be sure to sample some deserts at Cozy Corner (to your right and up the stairs when exiting the station) while you're there. ;)

I really don't care for the way OLC treats its CastMembers, but sadly for a lot of them, its they own choice to work at the Tokyo Disney Resort, and be treated like crap for poor wages and zero benefits.

For the CM's where it wasn't their own choice to work there, what's their situation?

Its like any job situation sometimes you need to work in a place of work until something better comes along. End of the day its a lot easier to get another job, if you have one already.

I believe most of the Cast Members who work at TDR could easily get a high paid job in an office but choose instead to go work for Disney and earn peanuts due to there love of the place, while others work for TDR because its a source of income.

I definitely think that TDR gets a certain number of CMs that are willing to work there for low wages just because they want to be associated with the Resort. Disney in the US definitely uses this to its advantage, but perhaps the situation in Japan is a bit different.

Another thing to consider is that in Japan, it's common for the employer to provide commuting expenses (via a rail pass from the train station nearest the employee's home to work) as a tax-free benefit, and I understand that this applies to most employees at TDR. So, someone living half way across Tokyo does not spend the first hour or two of each shift to pay for their commuting expense, as is probably very common in Anaheim when you taken into account the total cost of operating a car.

The canoe paddlers are actually indentured servants.

All times are Pacific Time (US)
