He deserves it for his work his first 5 or so years with the Company, he along with many others helped save Disney, we'll overlook the fact he nearly destroyed it himself at the end of his run.

Don't forget, he also had decent run at Paramount prior to Disney.

He isn't my "favorite" person, but he did work in the field for a long time.

Please...

Saying that Michael Eisner 'worked in the field' for a long time, is like saying 'Steve Garvey was a pretty good baseball player.'

A 'decent' run at Paramount?

'Reds' 'Footloose' 'Terms of Endearment' 'Grease' 'Trading Places' 'An Officer and a Gentleman' 'Escape from Alcatraz' 'Meatballs' 'Ordinary People' 'Saturday Night Fever' 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' '48 Hrs.' and 'Beverly Hills Cop' among others.

Eisner and Frank Wells, when appointed by Stanley Gold and Roy Disney, are thought of as being responsible for this latest incarnation of Disney as we know it today. All the musical animated movies, all the run up of resorts and theme parks at Walt Disney World, all the Touchstone and Hollywood Pictures movies, Disney Stores, Disney Theatricals.

'he did work in the field a long time'

Indeed, he did...

Interesting that you picked Steve Garvey, a player who has not been elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame. (Yes, the San Diego Padres did retire his jersey number - #6).

But getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is a nice honor, but pretty much, either you, your fan club, or a company, such as a movie company looking to promote a new movie pays for the star and the event.

That's why I picked him. Lots of good players haven't been elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Lots of good actors don't get Oscars either.

Michael Eisner is an outstanding executive. And did outstanding things in the Entertainment Industry.

Maybe it's time to start awarding an 'Entie' to Entertainment Industry Executives.

It would gold, and in the shape of a big cow turd.

Don't forget "Airplane!" He was involved with that one, too!

Mr. Eisner deserves credit for the things he did -- especially in tandem with Frank Wells.

That said, I must correct the idea that Mr. Eisner was responsible for Touchstone and Hollywood Pictures.

Ron Miller was the exec who pushed the creation of a new division to market slightly more adult fare and "Splash," the first of those films was a runaway hit.

It was also Miller who decided to release classic Disney animated films for the rental and home video market on VHS (and Beta) -- another thing I've continue to see credited to Mr. Eisner.

Good correction.

Although Miller did come up with the notion of Touchstone Pictures, it was under the leadership of Eisner, Wells and Katzenberg, who blew the lid off of the original concept.
