Our beliefs aren't any more "weird" than any other Christian church. We share a lot of beliefs, be we have a lot of different ones, too.

Let's see:

God, who is actually 3 beings, but still one, but still 3, came down to earth and became a man, but still prayed to himself, and then died and resurrected himself and went unto "Your father and my father, to your god and my god" after, but I guess was going to himself.

How is this not weird?

<<But let's be frank, the use of the word cult in the US is generally reserved for "weird religions" or "scary groups," neither of which the LDS Church is. (Well, weird is relative. Can't any belief in God be weird to some people?)>>

I have some atheist friends that tell me all belief in God is signs of mental illness. That the fact people believe in something & talk(through prayer) to another that is not visible is a sign people have screws loose...in general...across the board. I just roll my eyes and walk away. There are always people who are on the fringe of any movement, even athesist

***Our beliefs aren't any more "weird" than any other Christian church***

Yes, they are.

Much more out there than the mainstream Christian stuff that basically stems from the mainstream Jewish stuff.

Sorry, but thems the facts bro. Like I always say though, I find it all to be weird and basically nonsense spouted off by people who claim to know more (somehow) than the rest of us...so you're in good company.

I have no qualms with the concept that most of humanity is utterly insane.

Look at what we've done to ourselves throughout history. All the bloodshed. All the insane power grabs. All the misery.

Funny how religion goes hand in hand with a lot of it too.

That's exactly what I mean. To ridicule the LDS church by calling their beliefs weird, coming from ANYONE who believes in God and miracles and things of that nature is hypocritical.

<<I would like to hear why EighthDwarf finds it dangerous.>>

In my opinion, Mormonism tricks and ensnares people. I could elaborate but I don't wanna hijack the thread any more than I've already done.

No, not hypocritical at all.

I think some are certainly more kooky than others...oh, wait. You said coming from anyone who believes in god or miracles?

Okay. Well anyway yeah, your church is amongst the most kooky, I gotta say. Real friendly people though.

Here's the really weird thing though. The fact that you can somehow ACCEPT some version of this three god theory, and also somehow think that YOUR version of this fairy tale is more "logical" than the other version, and use that as a basis for explaining why your belief is no more or less weird...

That whole thing just gives me a chuckle, I gotta say.

Topic: What is a Christian to you?

I think the answer after nearly 200 posts is it means something different to everyone.

No, I'd say the answers definitely fell right in line with what each individual group tells its' members to believe.
