"with full 3 dimentional figures that fit with the theme and style of the original attraction"

Disney characters are NOT in theme with the style of the original attraction. They have nothing to do with the message that the attraction is trying to convey.

And here we are back to zero. You of course have the right to your opinion, plpeters, but you can't state definitively that something is or is not in theme. That's a subjective thing, and my subjective opinion is that they'll fit just fine within the existing theme (or at least I'm hoping they will).

"and my subjective opinion is that they'll fit just fine within the existing theme"

It's not an opinion that the theme of the ride is "a celebration of world culture" and "a prayer for peace from the children of the world". That's the theme.

Now, you could try and make the argument that Alice, The Little Mermaid, etc are literary creations that are part of "world culture", but that doesn't really work when it is their American interpretations that are being added to the ride. And characters like Stitch don't even fit in with the literary idea.

I have no problem with people liking these additions, but please, let's at least recognize that they aren't "in theme" with the original intent of the attraction.

Sorry, not gonna do it. Of all the characters being added, Stitch had the most compatible theme, with the whole ohana family thing. That part of his theme fits in perfectly with the world peace theme. And I think the other characters that are put in the attraction will be absorbed into the overriding theme of world peace. What better expression of world peace than to have well known Disney characters right in there with all the nameless dolls? Seems like it just expands the theme to encompass characters that we already know and love.

The question is, do the characters expand the theme, or trample it?

Besides, I don't see how "peace between nations and Disney characters" is even a theme you would want. It makes no sense.

Why not? You have little nameless dolls, alligators, hippos, giraffes, and numerous other odd animals all celebrating the theme together. Why can't Disney characters play along? I really do think that just bybeing in the attraction they'll both absorb and expand the theme. It's like seeing a stage with a flag backdrop and patriotic music playing. Just by standing on the stage I'm going to be included in that theme, unless I open my big mouth and say something stupid (which I would never do...no, really!). Same thing - anything included in iasw will take part in that same theme, as long as the included characters are themed properly and artistically integrated into the existing attraction. And again, that's where the difference is - I think this is possible, others do not.

>>And again, that's where the difference is - I think this is possible, others do not.<<

I'll buy that, and agree to disagree.

Do not underestimate the power of the Disney Characters to derail things.

I wish YouTube had that Kenny Loggins "House at Pooh Corner" performance at (I think) WDW, where Mickey's coming into view far left offstage completely destroyed a performance that was taking place front and center. Even on TV you could tell the whole audience had forgotten Kenny was there within 3 seconds of the Mouse's appearance. That would back up my argument about as well as anything.

^^You know a thread has gone down hill when Kenny Loggins' name is invoked.

"Of all the characters being added, Stitch had the most compatible theme, with the whole ohana family thing."

Just what does an alien creature learning about family have to do with "world peace"? Sorry, it just doesn't fit. It's cute, and I'm sure there will be people who like it, but it does alter the theme.

"unless I open my big mouth and say something stupid"

Kind of like having the character music playing on top of the Small World theme?

I'll give you that one - it might be kinda jarring. But then there's the whole Christmas track that works really well, so who knows.

Oh, and one more thing . . .
