>>Oh yeah, the Blue Lagoon.<<

Actually, it was "Pretty Baby." And her character was pimped out by her prostitute mother.

"dshyates - are you so liberal that you think it's okay for a 12 year old girl to go topless in a movie??
Do you have a daughter?"

Yes, I actually have 2 daughters. Inherently I don't have a problem with a 12 year old being topless in a film. I do have a problem with a parent putting a 12 year old topless in a film. As this can irreparably damage her reputation. But the 12 year old can easily be topless without being sexual. There are 12 year old on the beaches topless all over Europe. Would I allow my 12 year old daughter go topless at a beach in Europe? Only if there were other little girls running around topless. And I don't think it matters one iota to the pedophilic perverts that are perving on the little girls at the beach whether they are topless or not.

I remember that one. Although I didn't see it. Blue Lagoon was the full rear nudity when she was 15. Sorry I got my Brooke Shields films confused.

Some child actors get messed up.
Some go on to be successful adult actors with good lives.
Some go on to be normal adults outside of the business and you never hear from them again.

As with everything else, there is a range of outcomes. How many kids play basketball for hours and hours while growing up in the hopes that they can become an NBA star?

A few of those kids actually are good enough to be starters on their High School basketball team. A few of those may go on to play college basketball. A very few of those will get drafted into the NBA, and an even fewer number will become successful in the NBA. But in reality, the odds are about as good that a kid could make it running across 8 lanes of traffic.

Personally, I wish my parents would have tried to get me into acting instead of making me practice the piano for an hour every day!!

A few former child actors who seem to have done OK for themselves:

Julie Andrews
Drew Barrymore
Petula Clark
Jennifer Connelly
Claire Danes
Leonardo DiCaprio
Jodie Foster
Michael J. Fox
Melissa Gilbert
Neil Patrick Harris
Katherine Heigl
Ron Howard
Helen Hunt
Scarlett Johansson
Jennifer Love Hewitt

I got tired of listing them by the time I got to the H's. See a complete list of former child stars here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L...d_actors

I can see Jim's point clearly, but I also agree with barboy. There's no reason for Miley Cyrus not to have a shirt on in that picture.

I wasn't kidding when I said before, I know of people who have been arrested for having similar pictures on their hard drives. I just refuse to see the "art" in a disheveled looking 15 year old with her bare back exposed wrapped in a sheet. In what other context besides sex is one supposed to view/consider that pose?

But imagine how long the list would be of not just former child stars, but kids who attempted to break into show business, and went on to have terrible after effects.

You'd never make it to the H's.

That's just it. It wasn't some scene in a movie that required it to be "true" to the character or whatever.

It's a shot meant to show a sexier side of a 15 year old pop princess. Could it have been worse, more risque ´? Sure. But it also could have been better.

But, it has people talking about Vanity Fair, so mission accomplished, I guess.

Oh, I don't know, let me think, well, morning bed head in bed OBVIOUSLY ALONE!!!!!
I bet if it were a largish lady sitting alone with her hair dishelveled and her front covered with a sheet you would immediately think she just woke up. Not just "rumpled the sheets".

I hope Miley's parents keep her away from Roger Clemens...

I'm sad for the state of the world when people think that asking a 15 year old to take her shirt of for a picture, sheet or not, is acceptable.
