"Oh, I don't know, let me think, well, morning bed head in bed OBVIOUSLY ALONE!!!!!
I bet if it were a largish lady sitting alone with her hair dishelveled and her front covered with a sheet you would immediately think she just woke up. Not just "rumpled the sheets"."

And there's a legitimate reason I need to see this?? Come on, give us a break here. She's 15. 15! If I peeked through my neighbor's window to see his daughter like this I'd be locked up, no questions asked.

Why would a 15 year old girl sleep nude? I never knew any who did when I was 15.

Its not that I approve or dispprove of the photos and/or feel they are appropriate. More diappointing in that I don't feel they are wise. But this is how she and her handlers have chosen to move her career forward. Not very Disney to be sure. But the entertainment industry as a whole is not very Disney. But I can see her move more towards a pop Shania Twain model without going full blown "Brittney".

I wonder if she's already made more money than Shania Twain. Where's Twain been lately?

Some child actors get messed up.
Some go on to be successful adult actors with good lives.
Some go on to be normal adults outside of the business and you never hear from them again.
<<<

Yes, not 100% of them get messed but there is a high failure rate, much higher than the public at large. Many child actors wind up on the scrap heap after a few years wondering where all the attention went and looking for therapy. It is pretty bad to be all washed up at 14. Interviews I have seen with most former child actors that "made it" say they would never want their kids to be child actors.

Ron Howard stand out as an exception rather than the rule for child actors and he talks about how his father set a lot of bounds. Ron's father believed in his family living on what he made and not what his kids made. That seems to be missing from the parents of many child stars. Instead of being parents, they are taking advantage of their child's success.

And just looking at your list of "successes," they includes Drew Barrymore who was in and out of rehab around the age of 12. Michael J. Fox who had serious alcohol problems. I don't know about the others on your list off-hand, but I would suspect many of them have had some more serious physiological and/or drug problems than that average person.

On the "Magical Definition" podcast Jim Hill talks about the story of how Miley Cyrus was all excited about being shown the first doll made in her likelness and she was all giddy and excited. One of the product merchandising people starting thinking to himself how just a few years ago the same thing happened with Lindsay Lohan, and the person had to resist himself from yelling "quick, run away."

Kid's in show business are around too much money, drugs, and as sorts of bad behavior. They have access to too many things they are not yet old enough to handle. Many time their parents are part of the problem.

Jim, I agree that the entertainment industry isn't a great place for kids. I'm not trying to justify any child's place in it. Like I said, my son was very attractive and rambunctious when he was young and had many people tell me to get him into modeling, etc. I didn't do it but I'm not prepared to boycott any movie or tv show that has children in them, nor magazines or companies who use children in advertising, etc.

I protected my children. That's about all I can do.

I still think that Billy Ray is using Miley to further his own career, which is just plain gross. Lots of showbiz parents use their children's fame for their own benefit (hello, Dina Lohan!), my point was just that I don't believe Miley was FORCED to work. Sure, it's a crappy business but I think Miley has that "it" factor that makes her a star. It seems like she adores what she's doing. It's a small positive in a dangerous situation. I'm not justifying their choices. It's not my place to justify anything they do or don't do. Not my kid, not my decision. If she keeps up with her sexy act, they won't get anymore of my cash. That's about all I can do.

"Many time their parents are part of the problem."

I am pretty sure she is getting some pretty good advice from her Dad. They may not be to the standards everyone would prefer, but Billy Ray is pretty industry savvy. He certainly isn't living off his daughters money, as he is successful enough, and turned one lame hit into a career. While her PR face is one of contrition, I don't think they view this as a misstep.
