And make a movie. And tour around the country doing live shows.
And the parents whose children watch 'Hannah Montana' want to believe that Miley Cyrus is the last American virgin or something? Or that she isn't boy crazy? Or is essentially asexual?
Am I understanding this correctly? |

| mele Sun 5/4/2008 10:37a | Miley has made some statements about remaining a virgin till marriage, so it's not quite a leap that people might believe it. (I sure didn't. LOL)
I think that most people believe having a stressful job is different than advertising your child's sexuality. Most of us don't let our children do EITHER. Most will reserve their judgment for the job but will become vocal once sex is (appears to be) involved.
You know how Americans are about sexuality. Nipplegate still hasn't been resolved and all live shows are delayed because of it. |

Miley Cyrus is a working 15 year old. And that's okay.
But remember, she's working. She's doing something that adults do, and so it does stand to reason that she's going to feel more 'grown up' than her 15 years.
Makes sense to me.
So, why not take pictures for Vanity Fair? Even if she's covered in just a sheet? Any grown up would do that.
I keep going back to the same thing. It's not a good idea for young people to be in show business.
Here's the daughter of Billy Ray Cyrus -- who 'knows his way around the biz' -- and his daughter ends up taking pictures which she 'regrets' or is 'embarrassed' about.
So, no suggestive pictures. But let's keep our fingers crossed for another season of 'Hannah Montana.' |

Having your back photographed in a studio by a world famous photographer is a little different than showing the paparazzi your pantyless crotch outside a club in a drug addled and drunken stupor at 3am. One is a calculated business move the other is "totally Sputnik" (unmanned spacecraft). |

There are some pretty skanky photos of Miley on PerezHilton that look like photos she took of herself. (I can't link to them here because of the horrid comments people leave on that site.) The Vanity Fair photo is definitely artististic by comparison. But that photo isn't a clean, sensual photo. The touseled hair, the faded red lips, naked under her sheet. It implies that she is waking up after a night of sex. Thank goodness there's no smell-o-vision. |

| dsnykid Sun 5/4/2008 2:17p | I have to agree.. it's not so much the staged vanity fair photo(although the whole situation is a bit unusual) as it is the photos she has taken of herself... while the vanity fair one is more skin, the others are more worrisome to me because she is a role model to the children I teach, and I don't want them to think it is okay to take pictures of yourself showing your underwear and emailing it to boys you think are cute. |

One thing I noticed in both the magazine (I subscribe to it BTW) and the apology afterwards. She gave the impression in both she felt pressure from Annie L.
That is what I found to be sad. The photographer is well know, and respected. A child will expect to look up to her, and to some extent, do what the authority says. Personally, after reading the article (and before I read the apology) I was wondering why Annie had even brought up this pose to the girl. |
