Be careful then. They have a main staging area but when the shows are going in and out there is plenty of random soakings to unexpected guests (particularly in the DisneySea show).

Don't forget Stitch Tiki Room overlay will be opening up during the second phase too. Also the Summer night shows are returning like Bon Fire Dance, and a new show for TDL. Last year it was the Wet and Wild Piarate nights, which included a mix of water and fire.

Hoping the Cool the Heat shows will be new versions this year. Come on TDR mix it up a bit this year!

It probably won't be open when he's there, unfortunately.

The guidemap I have says from July 25th.

Shame but always a chance for a preview I guess. Kind of suprised its not opening on the 8th with the rest of the second phase.

<<< (I'm guessing "Cool the Heat" is the same Cool Service show from before at DisneySea with Chip and Dale?). >>>

No - "Cool the Heat" is at TDL. In addition, they're bringing Cool Service with Chip and Dale back to TDS.

July: horribly hot and humid, and usually rainy as already noted.

Make sure to drink a lot of water during the day so you don't get dehydrated. (I'm a seasoned traveler, but I got caught by surprise one August when climbing that big damn hill in Kamakura on the way up to see the Daibatsu (Great Buddha). You really need to have a bottle of water in your hand at least once an hour.

My advice: do not eat in the restaurants in any of the Disney Hotels. Having tried a few in both Miracosta and the Ambassador, the food is extremely expensive and portions are tiny. You will feel much more satisfied by a Mickey Pizza and fries at Huey, Dewey, and Louie's Good Time Cafe in Toontown.

There are very good restaurants in Ikspiari. "Imahan" is a top-notch Shabu-Shabu restaurant on the fourth floor. Very expensive but worth it.

Also on the fourth floor is an Italian restaurant--good pasta and decent pizza. Not too expensive.

As mentioned earlier, there is a Korean Barbeque (Yakiniku) restaurant on the second or third floor--it's less expensive than Imahan and the food is excellent. Korean Barbeque in Japan is not the same as when served at a Korean restaurant in the US. Different sauces for the meat.

If you want a cheap place, on the lower level (can't remember if it's the first floor or below that--but it's the same floor as Maruzen book store) is a food court. Lots of good choices, including an enormous plate of spaghetti for $10.

At Tokyo Disneyland, I've had the opposite experience at the Blue Bayou as other folks here: have eaten there last October and the October before that. Delicious both times and the ambience is great.

Queen of Hearts Banquet Hall is also good, but the portions are tiny and you WILL be hungry after eating here (even with buying the birthday cake).

I have eaten at the Sailing Day Buffet in the American Waterfront area of Tokyo Disney Sea. It was during the Disneyana Fan Festival event, so I don't know if the menu was the same as usual, but it was great. It's a buffet, so I think it must be all you can eat (someone will correct me on this), so you can fill up and the food was tasty.

For breakfast, I often do a Mickey Waffle at the Great American Waffle Company in World Bazaar. They also serve Mickey Pancakes, but I can't remember where. East Side Coffee House perhaps? I've had Japanese pancakes (they still call them "Hot Cakes" at restaurants outside of TDR) and they're good.

It's the ground floor, which is the lowest level for shopping and eating (I think there is a sublevel for parking though).

From the station just head towards Ikspiari and down the stairs and the doors leading to the food court will be right in front of you.

For coffee lovers, there is also now (yay!) a Starbucks in there...a good place to java up before turning around and walking to TDL (not sure how early it's open though).

All times are Pacific Time (US)
