A few things crossed my mind about the whole Green movement.

1. While I'm sure the Toyota Prius is a practical and helpful for the environment, has anyone taken a look at it. It's a very ugly designed car. Change it up Toyota.

2. The compact flourscent lightbulbs suck. There is hardly any light coming out of these things. Come on GE get these things brighter.

3. Stores are starting to give people an all purpose shopping bag to take with you each time to the store to eliminate paper and plastic bags. But does anyone know how millions of dog owners are going to pick up their best friend's fecal matter? Those little plastic bags were a Godsend.

DAR, It's my understanding that the design of the prius is to minimize wind drag and the bulk of it's gas sipping is due more to an effiecient "wind tunnel" design than to it's battery. (Maybe you're refering to the interior? If so, no comment.) It also helps that it's small and light weight. Can't comment on the design of the light bulbs or your loss of trash bags though. :)

I think the Prius also goes into a sleep mode at lights, etc, so it doesn't burn as much fuel.

See, my daughter wants to go to reusable bags to save the environment, but we always get paper because we use them under the sink as garbage bags. If we didn't use them, we'd have to have a container and line it with plastic bags, which are not renewable or biodegradable. This is what I always tell my daughter when she brings up the reusable bags at the stores!!

I saw that exact same post on another thread!!

We send our kids sandwiches and lunch items in reusable containers too, but at snack they don't have their lunchbags to put the containers back in. So I send them plastic baggies. I think it's a little give and take sometimes.

Actually, I'm saying paper ISN'T bad because it's renewable and recyclable and biodegradable.

I like the new fabrics/paper products being made with bamboo.

As much as my dogs crap...I don't think I could ever use up all of the plastic grocery bags that have accumulated over the years. LOL! We've started lining a bucket with ONE bag and using a plastic scooper to pick up the poop. We do this for the environment, not because we're too lazy to clean it up each time. ;-)

I like using the reusable fabric grocery bags. At Whole Foods, they give you a few cents back or a token which you can use to donate to a few causes. (My daughter donates all of our tokens to animal causes.) It feels good to not create as much garbage and to also donate to a good cause at the same time.
