It's really a shame that we place so much value on a car's "looks". I mean, when you come right down to it, it's a transportation system - it shouldn't matter what it looks like. Do we car what a train looks like? Or a plane?
We've ended up sacrificing efficiency and low gas mileage so the things can look better. It's kind of crazy really. |

Yeah it actually does matter. |

Another point of contention with me. Famous people telling me how to save energy, yeah shut up about it. When you stop driving your Hummers, taking private jets. Filming movies or holding concerts that burn more energy in a day than I use in a whole year then maybe I'll listen to you. |

Whats great about this material is that its fast drying. So I never put my Adidas wear through the dryer. I have this wooden clothes rack that when I wash my gym wear I just hang it on the wooden rack to air dry. It really cuts down on how much clothing I put in the dryer.
Oh and great job everyone on being green <smile>. |

Thank You DAR! sorry to jump in, but I just had to agree. Along with certain corporations preaching that they're doing changes to save the environment. Wal mart, for instance, says they are taking away the jewel cases and the booklets from CDs for environmental reasons when it's really to just keep their price point down. Don't get me wrong, I like wal mart and am not anti corporation. Just be up front on why you are doing changes. |

Heck, people have been nagging us to be nice to Mother Earth since the 70s at least (the 60s?) and they havn't gotten very far. People will be green when it's the cheapest alternative. Many companies have been allowed to pollute air water and soil for too long. Once we demand that they pay to clean up the mess they've made, naturally their prices are going to go up and Americans will consume less. (Will our standard of living go down? In today's terms, yes)
Once we really understand how hard it is to get rid of all the trash we make and it gets harder to make it all just disapear, well, then trash collection is going to get signifigently more expensive and people will figure out how to throw away less.
And once we here in the West wake up to our precarious water situation, and we'll see the colorado river reache the breaking point. Then, water is going to cost more, potentially signifigently much more!! That's when you'll see a mass movement to plant native plants and consume less water.
The main problem, for the earth, and benifit for us, is that too many of the true costs of the products we buy are not included in the register total. |

| Mickeymouseclub Wed 4/30/2008 11:45p | I remember lunchbags in the 50s. They were in Waxtex bags. I know the health stores carry a wax coated lunchbag. Maybe I should invest in Waxtex. I wonder what company makes them. If I lookes in my kitchen now I would wake everybody since it is 1:40 a.m. for me. Hmm now I am hungry. |
