I am new to the laughing place community, and wanted to say hello to everyone on here. It seems like a tight knit community, and I hope I can be a part of it. I have been reading threads for the past few weeks, and feel as if I know some you already just by your posts. I am a huge Disney fan, but most importantly DISNEYLAND! So I just wanted to say hello and start a thread regarding Rainy Days in Disneyland. I know some of my happiest memories of my Dad were in Disneyland, especially those Rainy Days we spent together, so I love them. I wanted to see if anyone had any stories of why they either love or hate those rainy Disneyland days!

We **LOVE** them because it clears the park out. Those of us who don't mind getting a little wet get free reign (ok -that was a terrible pun/play on words <vbg!>). Of course, this doesn't have the same effect in Walt Disney World - it rains there all the time, so everyone just throws on their ponchos and keeps on going!

Welcome to LP!! All the folks here are great and the discussions can be lively. I am relatively new myself having just been here a little over a month so welcome aboard! ~~grin~~ The information is invaluable and sharing with everyone here makes up (in a small part) for not getting to go to DL as often as I would like.

I just wanted to say welcome to LP. Our last trip, it rained the first day we were there and it was the best as it really kept the crowds down.

Welcome!

We are pleased to have you join us.

DW and I went to DL on our honeymoon in January '61. It rained. Now, we sometimes go in the rain just to get that "romantic feeling".

Rainy Days...I love them. When I worked in the Emporium several years ago I always welcomed rainy days when it had been raining before Park opening. It was just a slower more relaxed day in Disneyland. Some fun memories are as follows:

Picture it...raining all night and continued to rain well into the following day. Heavy downpours at times. Into the Emporium walks a family of four soaked to the skin. No umbrellas, no rain coats, just typical tourist dress. The father looks at me and says, and I'm not making this us, "We didn't think it would be raining at Disneyland!" I hate it when we would forget to raise the glass dome over Disneyland. :-). Well we got them some dry clothes and some rain gear and sent them on their way.

One other fun memory I have is walking down Main Street in a sea of Yellow poncho's with Mickey on the back of them. These poncho's would fly off the shelves (I think they are clear now, but when I was there they were a bright yellow.) Anyway it was always fun to see all this yellow in the Park.

Not quite as much fun when the rain would come and go or if it started later in the day. When I worked there, once a parade started it would not stop. I remember on time when it was decided at the final few minutes that the afternoon Christmas Parade would be a go. The rain had held off, but it was still very dark and gloomy up in the sky. I was doing guest control. Well about 10 minutes into the parade (and this was when the Christmas Parade was nearly 35-40 minutes long), it started to rain, not hard, but still significant. I never saw a parade move down Main Street so fast.

Rainy days, yeah, I love em'. I even remember the old Jack Wagner speil at the ticket booths.

"Into ones life a little rain much fall, and it looks like today is our day."

Still, even in the rain you can have a great time at "The Happiest Place on Earth"!

Welcome to LP!

Our family has experienced DL in the rain on two occasions. I am a duck at heart and live in the central desert of AZ so rain is welcome anytime, but most especially at DL.

The first time was just 2 of our children (the other one was at WDW with a friend and her family.) and it rained the first day we were there. No crowds! I also think DL is so pretty against the gray sky and everything gets all shiny when the sun comes out.

The second time was this last November when DH and I took an anniversary trip without the kids and it rained cats and dogs our last day. We had to drive home later that day and it rained the entire way home. While I don't particularly like driving in rain, it was so nice just to have it wet and not dry for once.

Welcome Devmonium to the LP! I, too, have recently joined this wonderful group of people! We were in DL a few weeks ago - 7 whole days, that was a first for me! But it didn't rain this time.

I agree with everyone else - it does thin out the crowds when it rains and, for the most part, you spend more time "indoors" on the ride. The line queues are usually mostly covered, too.

My suggestion is to go see "Billy Hill & the Hillbillies" at the GHS!!! Arrive early and get a good seat, then get in line for the food! There's never a dull moment at their shows!

Again, WELCOME!!!
