But they do sound like corporate PR, and they're lousy.

I could write a better book standing on my head in a dark room filled with snakes!

I guess on my last trip I just ended up in a really good place, but I found it pretty easy to do what I needed to. We stayed in Yokohama (right across from the little amusement park), and it was really easy to get to TDR. I found something online that listed places for shuttle busses, and used that. I had to take the train two stops, and go up to the bus loading area. From there, it gave instructions on which spot the bus would be parked at. Also, to get from my hotel to the first train station, we had to walk through a shopping center, and as luck would have it, one with a Disney Store. So we stopped there and were able to buy tickets in advance, so that was not an issue for getting there early (but I did get to TDS about 45 min before opening anyway). It was a little tough to figure out, and I'm still not quite sure how I did manage to find all that information, but it did work out in the end.

Sorry if that last post didn't make any sense. I was a few pages back, and thought that was all of it...

FerretAfros: how long did it take you to get from Yokohama to TDR?

By bus, I would guess around an hour with decent traffic conditions (just a guess).

That makes sense, since Yokohama is about 30 minutes from Tokyo, right? And Tokyo is about 30 minutes from TDR, right?

Roughly.

It really does depend entirely on the traffic situation. It can potentially take much, MUCH longer.

Thus the trains are nice, because even if slower on a GOOD driving day you can be sure you won't be delayed for hours on a BAD day.

In decent traffic though, it's a pretty quick zip through town from Yokohama to TDL, I've done it lots.

It took a little less than an hour (about 50 minutes). I'm not sure, but I think the morning bus I took was around 8:30 and the one back at night was probably around 10:00. I figured we would hit traffic in the morning at least, but we were moving at full speed the entire time. I'm not entirely sure how long it took on the way back, because I fell asleep, but I'm pretty sure that both the arrival and departure times were listed on the website (which I think was an extension of the official site).

Here's the info for the busses that I found. It's right off the main TDR website, under a link labeled "Getting Here." It's all easy to use, but not terribly fancy.

Also, I thought it was interesting that there was no mention of TDR anywhere that I could find on Disney.com. I checked under the "Parks" link, and even did a search for "Tokyo Disney Resort" and nothing relevant came up. Interesting that Disney doesn't include it on their site, but that may be one of those funny legal things (although I know it used to be linked from there).

For those planning a first-time trip, Yokohama is NOT the ideal spot to stay when visiting TDR. As has been pointed out, it's not impossible to commute, but it's not the place you'd pick for TDR unless you otherwise have a reason to be there. If money is an issue, then there are lots of places much more conveniently located that are closer to both TDR and Tokyo.
