French Quarter was booked, and we wanted to upgrade from Pop since we stayed there the last three visits. I love Riverside, but also wanted a change since we have also been there a number of times. Has anyone stayed at CBR lately? Thanks for your help! |

I just can't dind it right now. We were there in Aug '07 and Feb '08. Even with the main pool closed, it was great. You may have a longer walk to the main building (but not more than 10 minutes one way) depending on where you stay. Martinique is the closest if you want to request that. We have stayed at Barbados both time. It's next to Martinique and just over a 5 minute walk. It so relaxing and beautiful there. We want to try other resorts too, but will definately stay there again. I'll keep looking for that other thread. |

BTW - DH also loves it and is apprehensive anout trying Coronondo next Feb, he's afrais we won't like it as much as CBR. DS12 and 8 love it too but want to try the pool at Coronado. I know there are many LPers who love POFQ and Riverside, but we walked around them and they didn't seem like places we'd want to stay. We stayed at Dixie Landings in'93 and Riverside is just the same as I remembered that with a different name. |

Thanks for the response. I have read how the rooms are in need of attention, housekeeping falls short of standards, and the bus waits are long. Do you know how long the pool is out for? |

As for long bus waits - welcome to WDW. Never had a good bus experience since 2000 opting for cars and cabs ever since. |

| sun-n-fun Thu 5/1/2008 9:39a | The pool is closed into September, but the smaller quiet pools are nice, just not fancy. They added small water slides to the pool in Barbados and another one, so they are not "quiet" anymore. Our rooms have always been great and clean. I have not stayed at any other mod (or a delux for that matter). It may sound silly but I just didn't like how POFQ looked and I feel as though I have already been to RS. That is why we are trying Coronado next. But even there some building seem like a hike to the main one. We always request certain location and have been told there is no guarentee, but we have always gotten what we asked for.
I have read that CBR rooms are a little bigger than the rooms at other mods. We always come away feeling relaxed, especially if we have time to just enjoy the resort.
We have always had a car so I can't speak for the busses. Each area has a bus stop. Martinique is the first picked up and dropped off. Depending on where I was staying, I get off in Martinique and walk or walk to Barbados to get on. That may save some time. |

| RoadTrip Thu 5/1/2008 9:53a | We stayed at CBR once and truly enjoyed it. The only reason we haven't returned is that was the year we bought into DVC.
We loved the live entertainment every night on the plaza between the main building and the pool. We also thought the hotel gift shop was among the best we've seen at WDW. It was actually two shops, with one featuring typical Disney stuff and the other featuring stuff related to the CBR.
We stayed in Jamaica which is just across Barefoot Bay from the main building. There is a bridge across the Bay and the walk didn't take us over 5 minutes.
The bus does have 5 stops throughout the large resort, but I think people who complain about it must have never stayed at a Deluxe. When we stay at the Boardwalk our busses also stop at the Swan and the Dolphin and the Yacht Club and the Beach Club and the Beach Club Villas. Give me the CBR bus any day.
I wouldn't hesitate to stay at the CBR again. I thought it was a very enjoyable moderate resort.
By the way... our visit to the CBR was in 1999, so the live entertainment and gift shops may have changed since then - I have no way of knowing.

| davewasbaloo Thu 5/1/2008 9:57a | That is a good point roadtrip. We stayed at AKL last time thinking; a deluxe; with it's own bus; must be great, right? Wrong. We found the moderates actually seem to have a better bus service. |
