"How many warnings in how many languages will we have to sit through on this one?"

I don't know, but can I make a special request for the seductive fellow from the Haunted Mansion that does it in Spanish. It seems to fit with the mood of eerie happenings to have the creeper hiding just behind your doombuggy telling you all sorts of things in a language you can't understand. I feel like he would fit well with the overall theme of a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow. : )

"... but I've rarely heard similar stories about WDW. Is safety handled differently there? Are guests there less stupid?"

I'm just going to use this as further proof that people in California really are dumber than the general population of the rest of the US. There really seems to be an overall lack of common sense and common courtesy (there are plenty of exceptions though, I'm talking about the overall average) in California. I blame that.

In the future, I can see there being enclosed cars. They aren't designing the ride to how we want it.

Now now, Disneyland's been open a lot longer too.

Proportionately to the number of serious guest-caused incidences? I'm thinking probably not so much...

WDW guests seem to sit and take it all in without too much analysis. Disneyland guests are a lot more active in their pursuit of entertainment--sometimes to their own detriment. It's a cultural difference. WDW guests spend a ton of money and thend kind of check out mentally. It's why WDW has so many bland stale attractions. DL guests are, for the most part, there for the day and trying to maximize their experience. That's why subpar attractions or shows (Light Magic anyone?) are shut down so quickly.

We expect more. We demand more. And we push safety limits. It's the nature of the world's most famous theme park to have a rambunctious audience.

I'm am SO with 999Haunts on this! Personal responsibility for some people on ANY issue is non-existent. It's ridiculous.

And while the info on the Columbia is interesting and all - it really has nothing to do with enclosing the PM. That was operator error, and not the guest's fault.

If we're looking at the overall DOSH influence, then yeah, it's a big picture. But my point and that of 999Haunts (I'll take a chance and speak a little for her ;-) was simply - "Keep your darn hands and arms INSIDE the vehicle - It AIN'T brain surgery, ya doof!" *LOL*

(I wonder if THAT message would keep the idiots in line...)

Remember the old Rocket Jets gantry lifts? Enclosed, but no windows to clean--a very heavy woven metal mesh in place of glass or plexiglass.

If they go to the trouble of re-opening a new PM, I'm confident they will design the vehicles very, very, very carefully, and they will be quite pleasant.

I remember the mesh, MB... I'd sure hate to see them do that with the PM cars, though.

But I'd hate it even worse if they're totally enclosed... The thought of them smells we'd encounter as one group exits and we enter - is NOT appealing.

Maybe half-windows? Kinda like the monorail windows when they're open? That would be okay. Enclose the bottom half to save idiots' hands and fingers ;-) and leave the top half for the lovely California breeze. :-)

As demonstrated by a couple of posters on this very thread, who are apparently planning to have their remains dumped on Disney property. Sick.
