For too long, both parties have been held hostage by lunatics who really are more alike than they think. They view the world through this bizarre prism, and a shrill, combative tone takes the place of actually debate. I do think it's changing, though. That's why we see clowns like this getting more desparate and hysterical. It's why Limbaugh, Coulter, Rhodes and others go to greater lengths to attract attention and cause outrage. It's all they've got, and they see their time in the spotlight passing.
