| dsnykid Fri 5/2/2008 5:08p | I just read this on TMZ.com : "A man jumped to his death from the 14th floor of the Disneyland Hotel this afternoon.
TMZ spoke to Anaheim Police spokesperson Rick Martinez who tells us the male victim was between 30-40 years old and was in Anaheim on business. He was sharing the hotel room with a male co-worker and jumped from their balcony.
An investigation is under way, but all indications are the death was a suicide."
How terribly horrible for his family.

| SBSBelle22 Fri 5/2/2008 6:34p | That's terrible. I wanna know how he got out there because when we stayed the door only opened so far and the balcony itself wasn't even a foot wide. Are there other rooms with better balconies?
So sad. How can you kill yourself at the happiest place on earth. |

| FerretAfros Fri 5/2/2008 6:38p | That's really sad. I don't think it would be too hard to find your way off the balcony if you really wanted to. You could pretty much jump out of any opening, so I'm sure the door opened wide enough, and the depth of the balcony wasn't an issue.
I really hope this doesn't prevent them from keeping the balconies when they refurb the structures later this year. They are pretty much the only thing that makes them charming at this point. I wouldn't want to lose that in the new design, as it was always part of what made the DLH special to me. |

Man jumps to death from Disneyland hotel
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A man apparently jumped to his death on Friday from the 14th floor of the Disneyland Hotel at the world-famous amusement park in Southern California, police said.
The man, who was in town on business and not immediately identified by authorities, was killed in the 14-story fall from his hotel room balcony. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Right now it is certainly looking like a suicide," Anaheim Police Sgt. Rick Martinez told Reuters. "He was seen leaping off the balcony."
Martinez said the man, who was in Anaheim on business and appears to be in his 30s or 40s, also left evidence in the room that suggested it was a suicide.
"He was sharing a room with another male associate and for some reason he went out on the balcony and all indications are that it was an intentional act, a suicide," Martinez said. "
The Disneyland Hotel has nearly 1,000 rooms in three towers overlooking the so-called "the happiest place on earth." The amusement park, which opened in 1955, has become one of the top tourist attractions in the country. |

I agree but it's sort of odd that, if I had to pick a place to check out, that's where I'd want it to be. (xPPx knows what to do with the ashes.) |

| amazedncal2 Fri 5/2/2008 6:46p | We just walked by a wedding being held in the Rose Garden. We were thinking how beautiful the grounds looked and everyone was together and happy. To hear that another family will be wracked with pain is just so, so sad. I can't imagine anyone doing such a thing where so many families are present. If it was a suicide he must have been in a very dark place. Wow, I can't believe this.

amazedncal2-isn't that such a sad juxtaposition? and now that family will probably never be able to go there again... terrible. |
