<<. My brother truly felt the world would be a better place without him in it.>>

I think this is a very, very common theme in most suicides. They get to a place where they think they are helping people out by leaving, not to mention escaping the hell of pain that they are feeling.

As to judging the selfishness of such acts, losing a loved one still doesn't make one necessarily "qualified" to judge another person who has committed suicide. Being suicidal or even attempting suicide makes someone more qualified than losing someone to suicide. It's sad that any of us have lost loved ones to suicide but it might be even sadder that this has hardened people instead of inspired more compassion.

This isn't aimed at anyone in particular but I grew up in a very mean spirited family and they were part of the thing that made me suicidal. Their harshness was one of the reasons why I felt I had less options in my life.

I have walked the walk, dlcozy. No guesses here. And I have felt many of the same emotions you are describing.

A sad day for everyone for sure, especially for this fella and his family, our heartfelt prayers goes out to this Gentleman and his Family , one might say that prayers now are too late for this person, they are not, Our Father
is a merciful God , I pray to you now Father God that you bring your peace to this child that you have created , may his name be entered in the Book of Life
if it hasn't been already, may you send your Special Angels to comfort his family and friends thru out this most difficult time, may you also Father comfort the ones who were close to this terrible accident , help them Lord in this their time of need...TO ALL OF OUR FAMILY OF LP'ERS hold no grudges , let go of all trials, life is so precious, be kind to your enemies for they once may of being your friends, hardened hearts can block your own passages , soft hearts clear the way...take care....
Love and Prayers always to each and every one of you...amen hugs from the tink-mobile and snowhite

I feel I should also mention the feeling of a person who desperately wants to leave the pain behind and yet doesn't commit suicide. That's a special Hell, too. It continues to spiral further and further. Then you've got someone who won't kill themselves outright but chooses more and more destructive behavior.

Mental health issues are still so misunderstood by some. :-(
