"TSMM is not the new paradigm. It's just part of the continuum."

And that, I think, is part of the problem some have with it. It seems sort of predictable. But I do enjoy that thematically this is someting obviously designed for DCA.
A lot of people, including myself bust on Disney for a lot of what they do. And while I wasn't very excited for this attraction, by all accounts its good, so I'll take everyone's word that its a welcome addition to both the Pier and DHS. I call it as I see it. And sometimes I blow against the wind. I think this "imagineer" wishes he had waited until the actual reviews hit the internets to bitch about the chatter.
They do seem a bit touchy these days.

<<Disney a juggernaut? Have you seen the new Dubailand project? WDW is 2X the size of manhattan. DUbailand is 5X the size of Manhattan. Purely massive. I mean, wont they pretty much destroy their audience numbers by building so much?>>

What does the Dubai Mirage -- and that's what this notion of it being the new vacation mecca is -- have to do with anything in Orlando?

98% of WDW guests will never come close to Dubai ... I'm confused as to the connection.

<<And here I was given to understand that the Mummy attraction was going to ring down the curtain on WDW...>>

I often hear this thrown out, but I don't ever recall most level-headed fans ever saying such a thing.

The Mummy, just like RnRC, is a fun but overrated rolley coaster.

Neither attraction come close to being amongst O-Town's best and neither are major attendance drivers for their respective parks.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who noticed.

I think the point is not that Dubai is going to hurt WDW's attendance. I think the point was being made that Dubailand will hurt itself by building so much all at once.

But if that's incorrect, I'm sure the writer of the quote will correct us.

^^I'll believe all the stuff planned will be built when it actually opens.

Until then, I'm a major skeptic.

Either way, the only WDW comparison I see is that Disney has developed most of its Florida property and has very little land left that can sustain a major development.

I miss the green WDW of my youth. Now, it's just an extention of the urban sprawl of Central FLA.

<< But saying that TSMM is "too many" interactive/video attractions is like saying Haunted Mansion and Pirates are "too many" long involved AA attractions.>>

I'm not sure if you realize this, but when the "AA spectacular" really reached its height with Epcot, Horizons became the last of the breed. At that point it was thought to be overdone and over exploited as a means of expression by both the creatives and the general public.

That's why Epcot has closed and not replaced so many of them.

And while some might argue that EPCOT went too far with the AA-based attraction, I'd argue they've now gone too far in the opposite direction.

Replacing immersive 20-minute AA-intenive attractions with 3-minute thrill rides leaves me with an empty feeling after riding. Like a quick sugar high.

And despite the popularity of attractions like PoC and Mansion, it's telling that Disney doesn't want to build them anymore. Seen an attraction like that at HKDL?
