Oh, the Tree of Life thing- yes! yes! yes! As soon as we hit the parking lot pavement of the Animal Kingdom- oh, excuse me Disney's Animal Kingdom- I had never been there before but I knew it was the Tree of Life- b/c I saw amazingly garish green leaves amongst beautiful real leaves and I knew I had spotted a fake- sad :( for nature. Although, yes the carvings are amazing- still they should have thought of something better... creativity is the point of imagineers, right? And the long meandering rides- can't tell you how much I wish they could come up with another one- especially because they do rely so heavily on the formula of movie drives the new rides but hello! Pirates the ride inspired Pirates the movies- didn't those make any money- well maybe not the third one.. I really do love Disney though- but they need to make sure they stay close to Walt's ideals or else truly the magic will disappear.

Excellent points Heather.

The tree never really bugged me though, although I can totally understand the vibe of seeing this big garishly colored fake thing amidst so much lush natural beauty (Animal Kingdom is so well crafted, really! I love the horticulture so much!).

<<< To price one park less than any other would be to admit that they have "superior" and "inferior" parks. >>>

Whether they admit it or not, the perception in the public eye exists. I do think they've been quite creative with the "discounting" of DCA with the two-fer, and inclusion in the park hopper tickets, which has perhaps been less painful than an outright reduced price.

I enjoy DCA (especially the Cove Bar), but were it not included in an annual pass, I'd likely never visit it, because in my mind, it currently is not value for the money.

But this is all subjective stuff really. At WDW, my wife and I consider all the other parks to be superior to the Magic Kingdom. Others consider the MK to be the main event and get bored at DAK or Epcot.

Similarly, we actually spend about equal time between DL and DCA, therefore to us, they are equal value. And that is the issue with subjectivity. Therefore one price totally makes sense, it gets rid of that problem.
