| friendofdd Sat 5/31/2008 10:12a | I'm sorry UK and Europe are getting so costly. It must be dreadful to fill up the fuel tank.
I rely more and more on my big scooter (48mpg in town) and my little scooter (67mpg in town).
DW is suffering a bad back at the moment, so it is the Honda CRV when she or the two of us go.
It's difficult to comprehend that filling the 2 1/2 gallon tank on the small scoot costs ten dollars. |

| davewasbaloo Sat 5/31/2008 12:36p | Thanks FoDD. It is pretty costly. It is now about $160 to fill the tank. thankfully we go about 450 miles on that, but still.
The price of everything over here is skyrocketting - frut and veg costs are up 60% on this time last year. And the airlines have just raised fuel surcharges to $400 for each flight over 9 hours (this is in addition to the ticket and baggage handling costs). Needless to say, we may not make it back to the States for a little while with 4 flights to buy :-( |

Apparently right now, I assume environmentalists care ~nothing~ of the environment of the Middle East (which is part of the earth), and are not concerned that we have zero control or influence over it. |

| Dabob2 Sat 5/31/2008 2:25p | Last Saturday, my spouse went to the chiropractor, while I did a couple of errands. The chiropractor is right across the street from a Mobil station. When we walked in, regular was 4.19. When we walked out of that office about 90 minutes later, it was 4.28! I kid you not, they didn't even wait for overnight - it went up 9 cents just while we were in the chiropractor's office! It was weird to see it change almost literally right before your eyes like that. |

| DyGDisney Sat 5/31/2008 7:46p | I wish. His schedule is extremely hard to predict because he's not 9:00 to 5:00. Sometimes he has to be at work at 5:00AM, sometimes 6:00, sometimes 7:00. He rarely gets off on time (after 8 hours) either. And he doesn't usually know what time he has to be there until the day before. We can't buy the hybrid we wanted because, even though the gas savings would almost pay for it, it would give us two car payments and our debt to income ratio would be too high to refinance, which we'll need to do within the next year. We thought about selling his truck, but he needs a truck for his side business, besides, who would buy it with gas prices the way they are???
Guess we'll just have to start really scrimping on extras, and he'll be taking the Saturn to work a lot. I feel bad for those who have to give up food to pay for gas, and I know there are people like that. |
