Lol, I think we had this one on here before a while ago.

It reminds me of when Bart sold his soul on the Simpsons and automatic appliances stopped working for him.

Dave lol. That was a great episode!

I also love the Ned Flanders as the devil ones.

Anyone else up to the challenge here?

Care to risk your immortal soul?

There's something that's always gone through my mind when reading these religion threads. What brings people to a site such as LP? An unabiding interest, for many a love, of all things Disney. The word Disney today is much more than Walt's last name, but an entire concept, an adjective, a noun, something that can in one word encompass and convey an overall fantasy, and/or a fantasy world.

It isn't that much of a leap to say that people like Disney the concept for the feeling it gives them when they go to one of the parks, see a Disney movie or read a Disney book. They feel warm all over and it allows them to escape reality for a while and even feel like a kid again.

It also isn't that much of a leap to simplify an analogy by saying that roughly, Walt Disney is the creator of all things that came after him. He set the tone, perfected the mood, raised the bar, whatever you want to call it, there's a code of conduct for Disney. In the World of Disney. Walt's God. Disneyland, Disneyworld, the Paris, Hong Kong and Tokyo parks are either church or heaven, take your pick. (I suppose
Six Flags is hell.) Maybe the Nine Old Men are the apostles.

The point? Everyone who comes to LP has bought into Disney and the entire Disney concept. They're submitted to the idea that one guy can be responsible for such an endeavour and bemoan things when standards and behaviors slip. Yet, there's a lot of people who come to LP who reject religion and all it stands for, right down to ridiculing the concept itself. The irony has always struck me in a very amusing way.

***I suppose Six Flags is hell***

Since I just rejected god, I sure as heck hope so if I'm wrong. :p

Six Flags doesn't seem all that bad at all. :D

I don't see why.

Walt Disney actually existed, and did stuff.

See the difference?

The difference doesn't matter. It's the concept, the idea, the make believe inherent in Disney.

The difference does matter.

Walt Disney existed. He was a guy. He built some cool amusement parks. I can go there tomorrow and see them for myself.

And there's nothing make believe about it actually. That's all in your head (as is god).

Well SPP - it is an interesting thought. to me, my obsession and experiences with Disney are almost religious.

I think like all clubs and societies, people are brought together for their common interests, and then explore other ideas.

BTW - I do not subscribe to Christ as son of god, but I do beleive in Disney - loads of evidence for that one in our lifetimes. Not so much for Christ in a couple of millenia. And just as I cry foul of the desecration of such things as IASW, so too will I speak out against organised religion.
