And can they be ANY slower! Don't get me wrong, I 100% appreciate all the nurses...the doctors...eh.

Some of you might have read that I've learned recently, the painful way, that I have kidney stones. Well Monday evening I had a really sharp pain in my abdomen, followed by a LONG night of right side pain from my bellybutton to my hip...yep everyone says appendix. But no other symptoms, so I moaned and groaned alot and went to my doctor Tuesday morning at 1130a. Well, since he couldn't tell in his office just by poking around, OW, if it was kidney stones or my appendix, he sent me to the ER at the hospital my insurance says I have to go to for a CT scan to find out what is goin on, I got there about noon......a day and a half later I'm home.

To make a REALLY long story short...basically what happened was I went thru a series of nurses, surgeons, and one mean doctor...that no two of which could tell us the same thing. The doctor says no surgery, it's not your appendix, yet they called in two surgeons...go figure. So they admitted me for observation....made me wait ALOT. Yesterday, I hung out in a hospital bed all day getting drugged. As of 7am the plan was for an ultrasound and 2nd contrast CT scan, if those were fine I could go home. The ultrasound happened finally about 1pm, after that I had 30-45 min after drinking this horrible stuff I was supposed to have the 2nd CT scan...after 4 hrs of waiting and the gunk making me sick I had the scan about 630pm.

It was just VERY frustrating because they just could NEVER tell you what was going on....or you'd ask a question, they'd go to find the answer and never come back. I TOTALLY understand there are not enough nurses, people with greater issues than me etc...but 12 hrs in the ER before they gave me any pain meds....and 18 hrs in a hospital room to get an ultrasound and ct scan was nuts. And no food, just in case I needed surgery...yeah thought we ruled that out with the evil doctor huh! And since the CT scan ended up being so late (7pm by the time the issues with my IV and scan were FINALLY over) and I was still pain free, they discharged me and will call if the scan shows anything alarming. Yippee.

So I just had a really LONG last couple days...I came home to food and bed last night about 8p...I feel much better today (which leans toward the kidney stone thing) and wow, just hope I NEVER have to do that again.

Thanks for listening!

I am sorry you went through such an ordeal. Sadly though, contrary to popular belief, medicine is still largely well informed opinion, and sometimes diagnosis takes time. The risk of letting you eat etc. is too high, and meds have to be evaluated in case the issues are complicated by them.

Also in this sue happy world, caution is always the key.

Hopefully rhey are getting to the bottom of things and you are feeling better now?

Big bear hugs

Oh, ow, ow, ow! I'm so sorry for your ordeal and glad you're back safe at home. I hope this, whatever it turns out to be, passes quickly for you.

There's nothing quite like having a downturn in your health to make you appreciate the good health times even more...

Lots of hugs! {{{Stacers76}}}

Thanks Dave and SoThisIsLove!

I totally understand what you're saying Dave...I was just hungry! :) I think part of it is that, previously with my first two kidney stone issues, the ER I went to, closer to my home, just drugged me up and sent me home and that did take a few hours too...this time it was really a whole different experience. No word from the doctor yet today so yeah...no news is good news I'm hoping.

I'm still feeling ok today....I think all the morphine and the stuff I had to drink for the CT scan are sort of wrecking havoc on my tummy now as they work their way out...but I'll live :)

Thanks for the hugs, they are MUCH appreciated!

I will "second" your thoughts about going to ER.

I cut part of my finger off in a jointer. Went to the ER at 4:30. Bled on the floor until 7:30. While I was there, they assisted a woman who came in to have her ace bandage re-wrapped, a young man with a tick in his hair, and a little girl who got stung by a bee. I'm sure there were others being treated in the rooms, but those are the three other folks that came in AFTER me that day.

I finally walked out. Went to minor emergency the next day. They gave me shots for the infection that had already set in, 15 stitches (red ones-they let me choose the color), and put my finger in a cage contraption to protect it. Six weeks later, the cage came off, but to this day (2 years later) I have no feeling in the end of my finger.

Silver lining for me, though. It is the middle finger of my right hand. People here at work still ask to see my ouchie. I love to show it to them.

I am glad that you are feeling better. I have never personally had stones, but I know those who have. I understand that it can be very painful.

What a frustrating and hungry experience Stacers. I'm sorry you had to endure this in addition to abdominal pain. I hope things go better for you now.

ORWEN: Aren't you going to tell her that a spoon full of sugar helps the medicine go down, Mary Poppins? I mean, that's what you always tell everybody else.

Thanks for the support all, I really appreciate it!

I am feeling better...some other regular girl thing just HAD to be this week too...SO, extra whiny, but feeling no kidney stone type pain, just out of sorts as all the medicine is working it's way out, which is normal I guess.

Thanks again for the thoughts and hugs, they really help!!!
