3	EighthDwarf Thu 5/8/2008 2:44p	Funny....it kind of sounds like what happened in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina (you know, aid slow to come, a lot of beurocracy, poor people in low-lying areas suffering, etc). So I guess this kind of stuff doesn't only happen under dictatorships. Oh wait.... Where's "brownie" when you need him? ;-) PS: I think a foreign aid invasion would be cool.
4	X-san Thu 5/8/2008 4:16p	I agree that regimes such as this one suck. However, looking beyond the propaganda, I also wonder if there is perhaps some precedent in the region for other countries coming in and taking over following a natural disaster such as this. I'm not sure that there is, but it would seem to be a typical move for any aggressive power (I could imagine Japan doing something like that back in the day, for example, without thinking twice). So, if not, what's the point? I suppose that would fall under brutality for the sake of it (allowing your own to suffer), and sadly is a very good possibility. The worst part is, it's always the disenfranchised, the innocent, and the poor who suffer the greatest because of dumb politics like this.
